I personally like the Quadrajets better but everyone else seems to hate them. They have the capability of being 2 barrel and 4 barrel. 4 barrel when you nail the gas pedal to the floor, and I believe they 750-800 cfm.

Your best thing to do I think is research some carbs and see which one's you think work better for your application. My truck has a quadrajet on it and I like them a lot. Very effective and and fuel efficient I think.

Re: Switching motors.. need advice

if you strust the 307 go for that one, putting a cam in it is going to wake up the motor depending on cam size and could cause it to get alittle worse MPG. The 3 Spd. is a large factor in your fuel milage on the highway at this point. With out the extra gear your engine is turning more RPMs to go the same speed as the rest of the traffic.

Re: Switching motors.. need advice

Just throwin in my $.02 here but I got much better mileage with my 383 that had a mild cam, edelbrock intake and 4 barrel carb than I'm getting with my 100% stock 350 that I have now. I hardly had to touch the throttle to keep up with traffic and now I really have to press the throttle to keep up with traffic. Any small block v8s going to be pretty close mileage wise I think, a 307 will need more fuel to do the same thing a 327 will with less fuel. Not trying to persuade you either way but just think about it. if you really want gas mileage you should probably step out of this hobby right now and buy a honda civic. lol

Thats great, right now I'm trying to get another bed for my truck. This is the condition it's in. Are you going to build the engine or keep stock?
