2 wheel drive conversion
I bought a really nice survior 71 GMC Sierra 2 wheel drive 2 years ago to build into a 4 wheel drive.I love the truck and have enjoyed driving it while I round up the parts to build a 4 wheel drive out of it,I started out trying to use a 78 frame and realized the big differences after setting the cab over on it and trying to work out the mounts.I didnt like what I saw,so I stopped and went looking for a 4 wheel drive frame to use and found a good donor truck with a great frame with a rotten body.I have the donor truck stripped down, took frame to sandblaster, just got it back and painted.I have a 4" suspention lift for it,I have shackle reversal kit for the back along with a rear disc brake conversion bracket from DIY 4X4.I am using the 78 model 3/4 ton running gears, corp 14 bolt full floater rear, corp 10 in front.I am building a 383 stroker for it with an Eagle rotating assembly, hydraulic roller cam,I have a fresh 350 turbo trans with a NP208 transfer case for it.I bought a set of MT street lock 16x10 rims along with a set of 315/12.50/16 BFG Ko's.I work out of town 8 days and home for 6 so I only get a few days per month to work on it,but plan on starting back together with it weekend after next and finishing it this spring.I will post more pics as I go along with putting it together.
