Progress!! I was getting some floor work done on our house, so I took a vacation day yesterday. I don't really like bugging people or getting in their way when they're working, so I worked in the garage.

I pushed the truck out so I had more room. I cleaned and prepped the block deck surface. Then, I cleaned, prepped, and masked the block and heads for paint, primered and painted them.

With etching primer.............




.............and, with fresh paint.




I also got in some more new parts.

ECE 2" drop springs



New aluminum radiator.



Figured I better test fit the radiator. It fits!!

I really like that radiator... Where did you get that? You gonna be ok running the coolant hose all the way to the other side?

I got the radiator from Dave's Truck Parts in Claremont, NC. It cost me $260+$18 for shipping.

Is it a direct fit for our trucks? I just wish the top hose would be on the pass. side

I am glad I finally found this.... Good job so far. Its good to see that this motor will actually be put to good use instead of collecting dust in my garage.

Yes, the radiator is a direct fit. As for the top hose, I plan to use a stock 99-06 truck upper hose. The rad. outlet on trucks is on the drivers side.

Got my intake in and painted. I also cut off that goofy looking mounting tab on the front runner tube.



Do you guys like the Gray/aluminum two-tone, or all aluminum color?



My camshaft also came in. It's slightly used, but It's a custom COMP grind. 232/240 dur. @.050 .580/.580 lift 110+2



My POL tubular engine towers also finally arrived.


I've recieved a few other parts not pictured.
-Carter electric fuel pump
-used truck accessory drive system(it's being cleaned)
-oil pressure and water temp sender adapter fittings and an oil level sensor plug from Speedway

I'm hoping to decide on new valve covers today and order them, and go pick up all the gaskets I need today.

Nice cam specs- should lumpy and high-winding. What's the part number on that oil level plug?

The big brown truck showed up again today!!

I was going to try to do something with the stock valve covers, but I just wasn't "feeling it" with them. So, I decided to bite the bullet and get these.




I'm certainly Feeling it, now!


Also got some plug wires and boots.


Got to deliver fuel somehow!


Test fit! This is a 570 Street Avenger that I had on my old 350. I have a feeling it may be a bit wheezy on this LS1, but I'm going to stick with it, at least until the initial tuning and first drives are done, then I may upgrade.


I also went and picked up all the gaskets I'll be needing.


Got my water pump, dampener and PS pulley(not shown) painted. I'm in the process of cleaning the truck alt./PS pump bracket. I may see if I can do some custom bracket fab, though to get a cleaner look. I'll make that final decision soon.




BTW, I'm having a 700R4 transmission built with a 2800 stall converter. I'll probably be switching out the 3.07 gears to 4.10 gears.

Im interested in your old cam if you are getting rid of it, its looking great and your making good progress. If I would have seen those mounts and how fast you got them I would have went with them, its been a week already and cpp just shipped mine today.....
BTW your truck is definitely clean

Got her set in, even if for only and hour or so. I was checking for all clearances. The truck oil pan hangs about 1 1/4 - 1 1/2" below the crossmember. I'm going to do some checking around, but I may switch to an F-body pan.

mine does about the same...haven't decided how to correct it but it isn't low enough to cause a problem with the area speed bumps...so far.

my pan was too low also so I did the swap to the camaro pan. Helped a ton on clearance. Looking good.

Yeah, I think I'm going to swap to an F-body pan. Speed bumps don't worry me, it's the uneven surfaces if I have to pull off the pavement or drive up on a curb.

Are you going run those manifolds?.. Please tell me no!! Not bashing you but this is to nice of a build to me to run those, not to mention you won't get the full potential out of your cam with them.
