Re: Stepside or Fleetside

I use mine most every day and it was a stepside when i bought it and i also use it to pull my boat. Then i bought a fleet and really liked the way it looked.

After going to the lake a few times with the fleetside i changed back to the stepside.

With the step you can back down the boat ramp till the back bumper is in the water and step over into the bed walk back and step over into the boat and never get your feet wet.

The only thing about a stepside is everytime you go somewhere some one wants to buy your truck. Steppers are classic i'll never go back

Not much height to the rear stepside fenders.
Aren't the top of stepside fenders higher than the top of fleetside wheel wells?

Re: Stepside or Fleetside

I have had three stepside and two fleetside 67-72 Chevy/GMCs over the years, also I had 3 stepside F*rds.

I guess it just depends on what you what to do with your truck. I like the stepside because it allows for easy access to the bed and it makes it look more like a truck of the old days.

That being said a short or long fleet looks great lowered.

My son is now into building and selling these old trucks and has had better success with short fleets than anything else. I guess because they are getting harder to find.

These are not my swb steppers, but are great examples of what can be done with them. I am sure the owners of these trucks are very proud of them.

Re: Stepside or Fleetside

i was debating the same question as i'm redoing my 72. i could'n t decide either. i didn't really like the stepside bed on my truck at first but it grew on me. i still hadn't decided until i talked my dad out of his 67 frontend and since my steppers fender's didn't have marker lights i'm going back with the stepside. i guess i'll just have to build a fleetside later.
