Re: how many miles do you have?

Well, recently turned 254,000 and have first problem. If it idles too long, I can hear a lifter tapping pretty good. Once I drive a bit, it goes away. Research shows this is common issue with AFM motors from 08. Supposedly there is an updated lifter that fixed this issue. Many failed before the 100k mark so I guess I got my moneys worth. Going to check on cam and lifter replacement I guess. Motor still doesn't use more than 1/2 quart every 6000 miles. Overall, still pleased with truck. Its never left me stranded so I can't complain.

Re: how many miles do you have?

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm about to hit 266,000 miles. I increased my oil change to 4000 miles and rarely hear the lifter rattle I previously mentioned. There are signs of an oil leak somewhere but it may loose 1/2 quart in 4000 miles so its not a concern to me. Never see a drop on the ground, just the pan is wet.

Re: how many miles do you have?

2008 GMC Sierra crewcab Z71, 107k. Engine rebuilt at 99k due to oil consumption/exhaust smoke issue. That happened to me about 1500 miles after I bought the truck this last June.

Re: how many miles do you have?

Gotta say these trucks are great, and very comfortable to put miles on. My 2010 4X4 has 87,000 miles, no problems at all...one of the guys at work has a '10 with 165,000 miles. No issues. They are workhorses.

Re: how many miles do you have?

I'm up to just over 274,000 now. She's semi retired as of October 2013. I had to replace my oil pump which solved lifter rattling issues, at 272,000. She still looks good and drives great. Definitely a keeper. Im going to redo the front seats and keep it as a backup. The oil pump is the only issue I've had. Only things thst have been changed is plugs, wires, battery and serpentine belt. Rest is bearings on front wheels and brakes. Love my truck.

Re: how many miles do you have?

My 08' GMC getting ready to turn 274K miles. Just changed original battery last week. Had transmission change at 185K miles Everything else in engine compartment is original. If it blows up tomorrow it doesn't owe me anything. I bought a set of factory rims and tires off of craigs list a while back and now none of my tire sensors work. Not worth taking to dealer to see what the deal is.

Re: how many miles do you have?

I scored a 2010 Silverado 2500HD with 11,000 miles. 70+ year old man never drove it and kept it in the garage. I saw the price and thought it was a scam. Went and looked and had to have it. Wife said no (never had a truck payment until now), I said too bad. Now it's mine! I've never had a truck with less than 100,000 miles (haha) so to me this is like a brand new truck. My goal is to drive my company van as much as possible and try to pay this thing off before it hits 50,000 miles.
