Re: FS Restored non tach cluster

Great looking cluster. Good luck with the sale.

Would you mind sharing the colors you are using for the needles, and tins? I only ask because I have read every thread I could find and the needle color that others are using is discontinued and or not the right color. I think several have used Plastikote "orange glow or Tamiya TS-31 but that is almost neon orange and I think that the stock color had a bit of red in there.

I just purchased a tach conversion and it is gonna look way too nice next to my faded guage needles, so I got to get this figured out.

Thanks, John

Re: FS Restored non tach cluster

In his first post...I have a restored 69-72 non tach cluster for sale. It is all original GM except for the bezel which is aftermarket...

So it is a new aftermarket bezel.

I do it all the time...I use the "edit post" button all the time. I just wish it had more than 15 minute grace period.

Re: FS Restored non tach cluster

LOL...I do it too guys. As for the needles I use a aerosol fluorescent orange. I had the paint mixed to match at my local auto paint store for the tins. They did a very nice job matching the paint. Thanks, Tom

I could send you the exact same cluster but it is non restored. Would that lower the price at all if i wanted to buy a restored one from you? Just throwing out an idea.

Re: FS Restored non tach cluster

Just curious, how did you paint the orange in the "hot" area of the temp gauge without making a mess? I wanted to do this on mine but I knew I would have totally messed it up. The panels look awesome BTW!

A very fine tip paint brush from my local hobby store, some paint and about two Coors Light's (two settle the nerves) and your done.

For all of those who are interested, I have seen these gauge clusters in person and you will not find a better deal or a nicer cluster for the money, not even from me

A steal for $185.00

Tom does top notch work on these.

Re: FS Restored non tach cluster

How much to buy one of these WITHOUT the speedometer and gas gauge ? I want to keep my original ones because they came with the truck and are in mint condition . I originally wanted one of these with a tach but after reading how expensive those things are I think I will pass . And while we are on the subject of gas gauges I wanted to ask this question . When the key is turned on in the ignition on the lights that are in the fuel gauge supposed to light up so I know the bulbs are good ? Mine never do.

I could do one but it would be with a used speedomter. I'm currently out of the rebuilt speedometers. I will be sending another batch of them in for rebuilding in Dec. Just LMK. Thanks, Tom

Pics for Duck.E
This is my wiring plug that I test all my clusters with. The gray wire that the pin is pointing to is the wire coming from the headlamp switch. It is also in the "8" position. It should have 12V when the headlamp switch is on. Hope this helps you figure out your problem. Thanks, Tom
