RRR, I've been sitting here scratching my head about this now for a while. I had a hunch the problem was somewhere between the cancelling cam and the hub, but never thought to put something between them. Genius! I'm going to throw that in there tomorrow and see if it fixes the problem.

Installed mine last weekend...although I must have lucked out and did not use the bud gasket and all worked great. I did refer to your help. About the only thing I had to do was make the hole where the pin goes into the stock horn thing where the short spring goes, I used a #2 phillips screw driver and it made it the exact size for the pin. Other than that Thanks for your post, made it easier for me.

Subscribed. Hooked up my battery last night and my horn blows non stop same as described here. I installed the wood grant steering wheel a couple of months ago and just got power to the truck. I will do the cardboard in between as well. Thanks for posting!!

Something tells me only beer box cardboard works! Haha. Ok, maybe I'm just making that up but, it gave me another reason to tear up a box of beer and what was inside it.

Thank You RRR18 !!! I took on and off my new Grant steering three times today (horn would not stop blowing). I was going to call Grant on Monday....your cardboard gasket did the trick!!!

Thanks! This helped me finally get my new wheel installed. After all the hassle of one part interfering with another's operation, having this already spelled out was a huge help. Hopefully I've had to pull my steering wheel for the last time!

I had the same problem when I installed my steering wheel. I drilled a small hole in the copped band on the bottom of the plastic horn contact assembly and secured a small wire with a screw to the contact band then ran the wire through the plastic tower, hub, ect. to connect it to the horn button. I tossed the spring and plunger.

The cardboard goes between the turn cam and Grant hub? I was looking at mines and made the cardboard piece and noticed that the Grant hub doesn't even make contact wit the brass on the turn cam anyway... Is that what the purpose of the cardboard is? If so, I don't see what the cardboard is doing... What am I missing? Installing a Grant 377. Have the 3162 kit and I really need help figuring this out.

RRR, that's the wheel I just installed. Haven't checked the horn yet. Wiring is a mess. It is a comfortable wheel though!
