I noticed you have a leaf sprung rear end.

Are those the stock spring hangers and shackle? Did you buy new rear springs or rebuild the old pack? If new, where did you get them? And how many leaves are they?

I was driving a 73 long bed as a daily driver. It was a beater,Insted of fixing It up, I would rather go with the 65 body. My dad has a 66 swb and my brother has a63 swb.I wanted to keep a long bed to put my little camper on. I took apart the 73 lwb to use the chassis and drive train.But I was unable to use the frame.I picked up a 69 Gmc frame, that had leaf spring hangers.I used the73 front end and rear end and springs.If you can see in the pics I moved the front hanger up to make it lower.

My brother 63 mouse has been helping me with build.Its gone way overboard !. Thats why he put ITS JUST A WORK TRUCK. I always say good enough, ITS JUST A WORK TRUCK. Something Im going to drive to work.

This build is just breathtaking. Every aspect is awesome, the colors, wheels, engine compartment detail, everything. And I love the painted side trim. Is there a published technique you followed or are you just experienced at it?

I’m always impressed with someone that has the metal working talent needed to do a big window conversion like that.

Thx for all the kind words guys. The painted chrome trim & old school pinstripping is the only thing I have paid to have done.The chrome didnt turn out like I planed, but its growing on me. I like the looks of the real chrome, but it just doesn't fit well & dents to easy.

Making it a big back window would have been easier if you can find the inside panel from rusted out or wrecked big window cab.The outside panel is the same.I did'nt have a inside panel, so I just started cutting.I think it turned out well. It took about two weekends. I added nuts in the posts for shoulder seat belts.

You're right! It is a 67-72 rear bumper. I bought a new 65 bumper held it up to make brackets and I just did'nt feel it. Looking @ a 67-72 looked like it would look better. Im glad I made that choice, (months ago). I wanted the roll pan to fill the gap, but I still like a bumper.

This is some pics of the rain gutter.I never liked the stock gutter on these trucks.
I've seen a few shaved off, did'nt care for that. I saw one local truck here in phx that had it filled in. So thats what I did. This guy just used filler & said it has been in there for years with no cracks.
I went a step more & welded a 5/16 rod in first. Then used kitty hair filler.
Will it work ?. I don't know. Time will tell.

Got to give you credit on the rain gutters. Never seen them done that way. Not my cup-o-tea, but good job on them and very creative. Nice truck all over! I like it.

That's really clean! I like the way it looks. Sure it's not functional anymore but I think I like it better than totally shaved rails. Well done!

These pics show the ext. of the dash. I added 2&1/2 inches for my a/c vents.
The dash looked to short anyway.

In these pics you can see mt console being made. I wanted bucket seats, so I went to the u-pull-it and started looking and measuring, found a couple that I thought would work. Not in too bad of shape,I think $50.
(IT'S JUST A WORK TRUCK!).
I wanted the console to have the a/c controlls in it,shifter,two big cup holders,some switches, also a glove box - arm rest at the back.
I used 3/4 tubing,started bending it to shape,skinned it with sheet metal.
The sides are going to be pleather, tweed, or something.
Cut holes for stuff, painted, pinstripped, & cleared. Looks like a snow sled!.
Oh well, (IT'S JUST A WORK TRUCK!).

Where to begin...
I am also going to do a lower dash extension, yours turned out very nice indeed, right down to extending the contour lines on both sides, nice touch!
The pin striping was well done too, nicely accents the "dead" space without going over the top.

I am also a console guy, though for my '66 Tempest I did a wood one, for that I did not want to modify my car too far past stock original with anything that could not be removed easily.

Hope you dont mind, but I am copy/saving your dash pics to use as a reference on mine.

Nicely done, and given your location, I can totally agree with your rain gutter decision, and after all, it really did turn out great. A very unique look!

Pretty cool for a "work" truck.... especially if you work in a custom shop or an auto parts store. Now if you are an accountant, that is just a crying shame.....

Your truck is looking great! I like your console and the dash extension. It is coming along nicely, keep up the great work. I have to say that I like what you guys have done to the inside of the bed.
