That makes sense but didnt that put more wear on it being a 6? But i guess them low low gears didnt work it to hard. I was flipping through an old wheels of time magazine and saw a restored 64 C80 with the factory 409 with the 5+2 combo. It was a single axle tractor

your talking 2 different applications of vehicles here.
the Napco vehicle is designed and built for offroad use not as a highway cruiser. the other is capable of higher rpm's and different gearing and primarily for use in town and on the highway
those i6's could stay in those lower rpm's and just lug away all day .
I did sell for IHC and Pacific Truck and Trailer back in the mid 70's and did spec out off hiway units. also had a HD Hayes hauling logs off road
here is a pair of Pacific P510's that I sold in 74. bothe were carrying over 100,000 lbs net on a tandem axle trailer.
this was their inaugural trip out.

I used to, we pulled the 409 out of it and i got a few more parts... At the time he woudnt sell teh whole truck but a few months after it was moved into the town teh junk yard was located by. Sat there for a while then disappeared.

there is not a thing as a 2 x 2. it would be called a 4 x 2.

one should learn something everyday and I found that there is a 2 x 2 which means 2 wheels and 2 wheels driven but it is "rare" that we will see that!

Generally the NAPCO conversions brackets were bolted to the frame, not riveted. Easiest way to tell.

Most 4by 2s have 1 drive wheel and most 4by 4s have 2 drive wheels unless you have a locker in the rear and front then that changes things right?

Of course when you were in the military you are taught different lingo, like what a 4by4 is for example 4 wheel drive,4wheels driving, pushing, pulling
