My bud had a nice 1962c-10 come in to his shop today. He's wants the correct grill...got my eyes peeled. Found everything but 62 lately, but one will pop up. More yards to check this weekend.

Saddest part of the day was seeing 3 60-63 getting pulled off a trailer and crushed from the road today. Once on the yard they will only crush.

The blue, '61 I think you said, is that in Fayetteville, NC? I'm only about 3 hours away and I'm looking for a better hood to start with than what I have. Let me know please. Thanks a lot! I have a '65, but that hood is the same as a '65, correct?

probably easier to replace the lower 1/2 of the cab like you want to do, than it would be welding in all the different patch panels.

Are you refering to the 61 stepside or 61 fleetside? I purchased the 61 fleetside from the PO and he kept the hood. He seems to think that hell get 400-550 for it, so I told him to pull and keep it. The stepside is a complete truck, but the hood is shot to say the least. Ill keep my eyes peeled for you though.

Yeah, thats what Im planning on doing. The driver side of the cab is gorgeous. Absolutely no rust anywhere. 21K miles and garage kept. Just too bad t-boned...be a perfect bolt on donar.

Hey clemdaddy, greetings from Fayetteville NC. I see your in Fayetteville Arkansas. Haha...Anyways...great looking truck. Are you going to keep it a flatbed or put a conventional bed on it? Id like to find a 36-38 for my next "big" project.

there's just something about a flatbed.
from one fayette-villian to another, we're rich in country roads and rollin' hills.
this is truck country and folks around here like to hang on to their stuff.

My buddy Craig came by in his 67 to check out the 61 parts truck today. It is a good looking truck.

Got some tear down done on the 61. Found two different tail light lenses... 5950953 w/o bowtie and one w/5952677 w/bowtie. Im more familiar w/stepsides, but does anybody know the difference in them other than one having the bowtie? Also...have to get some pics of the firewall which still have the original grease pencil markings on it. Got the cab gutted and front end removed this weekend.

Also...found this old chevy service sticker on the inside of the glovebox door, but haven't found any info on it. Chevy part # 3752738

Yeah man, let me know what you find as far as good parts go. Honestly, if I came across a good hood, doors, or if I could be so lucky as to find a cab that's in good shape, I could use any of those parts. I'd be more than willing to make the little drive out to your area for some good parts. Thanks man!

The two that I have are original and have the GM part #'s on them. You wont find that # on the repops. Im guessing maybe it was an option to have the bowtie?

K1Rodeoboater and I did get all the glass removed, doors off, tank and seat removed. So down to steering assembly, cab and bed. Be glad when the teardown down so I can get back to working on my 63.

The bowties were for Chevies
The GMC's use the blank ones.
Don't know why they couldn't put G M C on'em..??

Ok, well, the mystery is solved. Thanks. Kinda odd that the truck had one of each...guess at some point the PO had to replace one.
