Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
No offense to the poster or anyone that likes this sort of thing but I'd rather keep my trucks with the key.
The last thing I want is to is modernize my good old Chevy into anything they make today. The more stuff like this, the more chance of break down. What makes the old cars & trucks so reliable is their simplicity. JMO. Plus I'm getting older and more stubborn everyday. LOL

Yep. Keep the keys and take a chance of losing the truck. I like the security advantage.

Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
My wife has a Highlander Hybrid - it's a nice vehicle, for sure. But when she left her smart key in her pocket and it went through the wash, I discovered it costs $350 to get a replacement.
I salute the creativity of the OP in coming up with this solution. It's not for everyone, but anyone who comes up with a good idea and shares it makes the board a better place. |

Looks like they have 30% off right now, too. I added one to cart just to verify and it gave me a $155.40 discount.

They actually offer a bunch of push buttons available on their website. Not sure what would fit our trucks, but they can't be too different, can they? I also installed Digital Guard Dawg's PBS-II system in my '68 and it's pretty slick. I mated it to Lokar's push button door handles so it's completely keyless, entry and ignition. Power windows are also controlled from the same fob. Pretty amazing technology if you're looking for a contemporary vibe with some security features in your build. Haven't had a problem with the system and fob not communicating yet and I've been driving the truck daily for the last six months or so. |

Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
So I am currently in the process of doing this same setup. I got their slim line lexus button but idk if they changed the size of the button or the fact that I have an aftermarket key bezel, but the button will not fit. Im going to try to shave a couple thousandths of material off the inside diameter of the bezel.

Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
I looked at there site. They have several kits. Which # did you use or do all of the kits use the same button?

Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
I have the slim line lexus style button. Its .006 too big. Im gonna try and sand out the inner diameter of the key bezel to get it to press fit in like the original poster did. That is my goal.

Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
Bumping this thread up. I know its a very old thread. I am having a hard time finding anyone with personal experience talking about what they think about the digital guard dawg keyless ignition.

It's cool but $499 plus $69 for the button ($499 plus $69 for the button) but not that cool.

Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
They do look pretty cool. But if you like the ease of switching between OFF and ACC position (like when you just want to listen to the radio), it may not be what you're looking for. Just my opinion after living with a '21 Honda for about a year.

Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
Can you not do that in a honda? My d/d charger has keyless ignition and you get ACC just by pushing the start button without having your foot on the brake.

Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
You're correct. (What I meant was, lol) With the vehicle running, you have to turn it off, then back on to get to ACC function. A minor inconvenience, for sure.

I can tell you that 10 years later it's still going strong! I did have an issue with the lexus button a few years back and they told me they also had problems and stopped modifying and selling them. However, as well as the lexus button fit, I stumbled on another great fitting option - if you get their 25mm button it screws right into the ignition bezel! You can get different color lights and finishes (hard to see, mine is black, you can get a chrome surround and a few others) You have to get rid of everything else in behind it, which leaves you with no way to mount the bezel but i just used a little 3M two faced tape along the edge and it's not going anywhere. |

Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
Thank you so much for coming back and talking about this. So overall would you consider this a worthwhile investment? Does it work seamlessly like modern car systems?

Re: Push Button Start - in factory igntion
So after you push the button, does this automatically beat the steering wheel and shout "start you b*stard" while mashing the gas,or would I still need to do that myself, while holding the button down?
