I got the column shortened. Easy to do. Ended taking shaft to machine shop to have dd cut. Chuck it looks like you replaced the lower bearing. Did you get it a local gm dealership? Looking to replace lower bearing and shift indicater pointer while i have it apart. If i can find them.

Didn't replace it, just cleaned it up, greased it and repainted the retainer and clip!

Bearing is tight on shaft but plastic bearing retainer to column outer tube has some play. Probably the way it was designed? Every part of the camaro clip has been replaced. And want to take all the play i can out of the column.

My plastic/nylon bearing retainer was a snug fit, you might want to try and get another one to remove any play you have.

Here are some part numbers and prices if you are using a Van Tilt Column the 1972 Truck Tilt bottom lower bearing is the same as the Van. Turm Signal Assembly is different.
Lower Bearing, # 34-0847, (LMC) $19.95 Lower Bearing Retainer #34-040851 (LMC), $12.95 NEW CHEVY GMC VAN TURN (Ebay) $24.00 SIGNAL SWITCH DELCO, Part Number: D6217
