Then on Ebay there was a 62 K10 Chevy frame and cab for sale.. it had the same funny looking mount between the rear cab mount and the leaf springs.. I also read sowewhere that NAPCO supplied the running gear until mid 1963.. The whole truck has me confused.. Front engine mount? hydraulic clutch with the fork on the passenger side? I hope to have the truck hope this week. I'll check for a VIN on the frame.. Top of the rail near the steering box I think.. If no VIN; I was told it's a GMC??
In the first photo, that mount is for the front-most bed mount. Its missing the sweet wooden lift blocks that the mount right behind it has. And the center motor mount is because is came with a straight six, and the early motors had a front, center motor mount. Dont panic, I think your truck is fine. Looks like a 60-62 K10 frame.

Re: The 4x4!

will take a pic today--maybe from under the truck. when i take the front end off will take some chassis pics, as my bell housing x member is interesting--as the pto drive shaft goes through it. on pics of the 62--long gone.

The 60 to early 63 chassis had several differences form that of the late 63 to 66, to name a few are:
-The early front engine mount used the pipe with a pad in the center, where the later engine mounts bolted to the side of the block.

-The earlier bed mounts were rivited to the side of the frame and the later were rivited to the top of the frame rail.

-The cross member that is under bell housing (rear eng mount) on the earlier chassis was mounted between two brackets that were rivited to the frame, later 63 had a mount that went from the upper inside of each frame rail with a shorter gusset to stiffen and support the cross member.

-The earlier 63-66 transfer case mounting was better fortified with more supports than the later 63-66 k series.

-Park brake cables are different

-The front cab mounts on the earlier trucks were farther out than the later trucks.

-the front core supports mounts are different.

-shock mounts and shocks are different.

-radiator mounting.

-bumpers
OK so there are a few other minor things but this is a good start.

I have both early and late 63 k chassis and could get some pictures of differences to help clarify what I was trying to say.

Re: The 4x4!

Well got the carb rebuilt but the gasket that goes under it when ya bolt it on doesnt fit..go figure. So Ill have to wait a week to get the correct gasket. Taking the Hotsy to it tomorrow which im sure will be quite the mess. Spoke to a guy that has about 14 old trucks sitting down on some of his land. He bought them all from a junk yard that shut down and saved the from the crusher. Pretty nice 60 Apache there that he will sell but hes keeping the hood for his K20 (hood is PERFECT) and selling the whole truck. Hopefully he wont want an arm and a leg for it. Ill try t post some more pictures of the progress

Re: The 4x4!

Too bad about not getting the hood Dtkarst. I was lucky and found one locally for next to nothing, that was nearly perfect. I then sold the hood that was on my truck and bought build parts with it! Hopefully you will get the rest of that truck for cheap! Good Luck!
