Re: Green Machine
oh ok you have that ratty azz vortec....lol can you tell i dont like em? i have that engine in my wife's 96 tahoe. when you take the stud out that holds down the air intake, see if it is in the middle of the bowl. i dont believe it is. bad part is, if you swap to a TBI you will have to change the intake manifold too. the vortec has a spider injection system in the middle of the plenum. mine was and is TBI so its plug and play.

Re: Green Machine
Could I possible make a like a collar shape ring to hold it up (like on the TBI engines the piece that holds up the air filter assembly) If I could do that then it might work from there without a stud and a wingnut

Re: Green Machine
Ok figured out what I can do it wont be hard however i discovered that it needs the two sensors on the vortec intake that I am trying to eliminate. So I will have to put them on when I convert, which I know how I can and I think it will work. I am still taking suggestions, unless they are to get an older truck.

Re: Green Machine
good deal man. in my opinion the tbi is a better system anyway. i have already had to shell out over 900.00 to have the spider injectors replaced in my wifes tahoe. that hurt.

Re: Green Machine
Yeah I'm just hoping I didn't screw up the computer when I ran it until it died without the sensors on it. I can't wait to do this I hope it works thanks for your help.

I got the wire to move the computer and also worked out what I am going to do for the air filter assembly now just to get the materials and fabricate it.

Re: Green Machine
So it turns out I may possibly be getting a 89 chevy regular cab long bed or a 91 sierra ST if God says the same. I'll give this truck to my dad if I do, which is good because he needs a truck, and i prefer regular cabs to extended cabs. Just thought I'd though that out there.

Re: Green Machine
It still his truck technically he was going to give it to me when I got my license and he was going to get an s10 but I'll let him keep it and I'll see the 89 I can get for like $250-$300 (doesn't run and needs work) and the ST runs but it needs paint job plus I prefer a long bed and its pricier but I don't know I need the guys to answer my emails before I can buy one lol.

Re: Green Machine
Absolutely thats the same with the our 98 its got that sentimental value to it it hase been in the family for 12 years so I didn't want to get rid of it (that and that six will kick a V8's butt hehe) but I would like to get the 89 and put a face actually similar to yours with the step lights but yeah I'm looking into them and hope to get one of them, though money is tight now but still I can dream for now haha.

Re: Green Machine
i know the feeling on the money deal. luckily i only have about a hundred in mine so far on the build. the 89 will have the 4 separate headlights. i believe 88 and 89 were the only two years then in 90 they went to the plastic one piece lights. check out this link i found. it gives some good history on the gmc/chevy trucks.

Re: Green Machine
My mom got a new car today so now I can park bad boy now that is not going to be the daily driver, I'm lending it to a friend so he can move stuff tomorrow, but I'll try to get something done during the week. Which means this thread will be active again.

Re: Green Machine
Looks like I'll be keeping the green machine instead of buying another truck! I decided I was going to keep it since my dad didn't want it. Now I can put money I've saving into it.

Re: Green Machine
Came in to take a break from the heat. But I figured I'd post what I have done so far today. Got the rear interior pieces out today. I plan to get a hood and grille by the end of the week.
