Re: CL*** Original?!, Right Hand Drive, KPH
Yep we've always used mph although most cars for a long time also have a KPH scale on the speedo as well in case you nip across the channel. I've had british cars from the 1960's that had both but never one that had just KPH. I'm guessing that your jag and TR3 may have been exported to europe at some time in their life and ended up back in the UK, not uncommon.

For what it's worth, I recall seeing several pages showing the RHD in the Assembly Manual.

Re: CL*** Original?!, Right Hand Drive, KPH
From my experience of travelling in a a fair few of those countries driving on a certain side of the road is a fairly idealistic concept, most people seem to drive on whichever side of the road has the least huge holes or the shallowest mud depending on the time of year.

Hi Leadfoot Vanner, any chance you could post some pics of steering box and mounting?
Does it use same centrelink as LHD models? thanks |

Re: CL*** Original?!, Right Hand Drive, KPH
adding more pics to photobucket now, sorry - i looked for it and couldnt find a part number on the steering box, only "check and lube" stamped into the top of it
part number may be on the mounting face of the box |

Re: CL*** Original?!, Right Hand Drive, KPH
leadfoot-vanner, the truck is very cool being a factory RHD. IMO you should either name a price that you feel is a tad high, and then lower it as time goes if no one bites, or put it on an auction. I am afraid you are turning away legitmate buyers with your attempts of having them name the price.

Re: CL*** Original?!, Right Hand Drive, KPH
i have been trying to find a reference for some sort of value
and been unable to find any other "legit" factory made rhd chevy truck from anytime in the 1960's for sale, sold or valued so what i base my price on is.. what a "normal lhd" c-10 in comparable condition has sold for and are asking for... then the oddity of the RHD in any american vehicle in the usa.. (there are the jeeps, lots of em.. and i have seen the chevy II wagon postal car that was asking 80k and sold for an undisclosed amount) i know if i ebay this truck, there could be some international interest because of the cost to "convert" for those who desire RHD the price i have into it, and 4+ weeks of around 400 or so hours i have spent on it materials, parts, ect.. and what classic vehciles average in comparable condition i am far from greedy.. but also have this feeling no matter what price i sell this truck for.. someone may double.. or even triple their money if they can afford to "grade A restore" or trim it out further than i have been able and be able to afford to wait for the right buyer ect.. this truck at a rumblers show.. or east coast hot rod nationals (next weekend in west springfield mass) could be a couple examples of a venue that could find a couple guys who would fight over it ...so... all this under consideration.. and to attempt to be fair in it's current condition and rarity the magic number is.... 12,000 or best CASH offer too low? too high? as time goes on.. these shows like the ones above are scheduled not far away from here.. and price may change higher not much lower ,the longer i have it and do more to it) so.. Re: CL*** Original?!, Right Hand Drive, KPH
I would love to have a KPH speedo. I never knew there was such thing. I'm not sure what year Canada switched to kilometers but all the trucks I have seen have been mph. I'm quite used to doing the math even with my speedo being about 5 mph out at 60. It would be something cool and different.

The owners wife also passed on recently and the bank needed to wrap things up so the truck will be with me very soon.... Furthermore what I have learned on this truck of mine is that they were imported into South Africa through GMSA (General Motors South Africa) and were original LHD, I will take pics of the engine bay to show you guys they used links for the gears that run from the RHS to the LHS. There are plenty of RHD GM trucks in SA and recently Leon has also joined the forum and he has a 69 C10 RHD also..... If you guys need further information on the RHD trucks hit me up and I will try and get as much info as I can..... |

That's a reversed photo. You're actually looking at her left boob and l-l-l-leg. Belly button is dead center, either way.

Congrats Russ. Have you received the truck, how long did it take to ship from USA to AU ?
When will you be starting a rides thread ? Any RHD info you need let me know.
