Re: Hood & fender emblems

heres ones i got 1963 c10 fender emblem and not sure on the years of the gmc but its the v6 hood emblem:

heres some measurements

1963 c10 has two mounting screws with a measurement of 2 3/8

gmc v6 hood emblem has a guide pin and one mounting screw measures 1 5/8 and a part number 2419879 stamped on it

then I also have a cowl extension from a 1962 c10 with measurements for the holes hooking the straight hood side to the holes is 2 7/16 and then 7 11/16

then for the first hole measuring up from the crown for the first hole closest to the hood is 1"

then the second hole closest to the door is 1 7/8

Re: Hood & fender emblems

Cool. Im trying to put as much info on as I can about the emblems and the measurements are great. This thread should help some people with what they are looking for. It also backs up the OEM vs. repop issue. The reissue stuff is nice, but its not quite the same. If you've got factory #'s that'll help also. There seem to be a couple of variants on the GMC v6 emblems. If anybody can help identify the differences in the years it would be great.

Re: Hood & fender emblems

Also...not quite trucks, but here are the corvair greenbriar emblems. If anybody can help ID the years, it'd probably help somebody out. The one on the brown & white truck is on a 62, but Im not sure what years it'd cover.

'60 - '61 GMC's had the round emblem, and '62 - '66 had the other one.

Re: Hood & fender emblems

Ok, great. Thanks for the help. Were just trying to inform and Im self educating on this thread. I had an emblem question from a guy a week ago and couldnt answer it, so I figured by starting the thread that we would get to the bottom of it. Ive actually seen a couple of new emblems I hadn't seen before. I have a picture of another Viking emblem somewhere....but have close to 5000 pics archived.

Re: Hood & fender emblems

Ok, GMC guys...which way or ways was correct for this emblem? I know that it was 60 & 61, but I have found them 3 different color schemes and all have the same GM part # 2392804

Re: Hood & fender emblems

As far as I know the '60 - '61's never came in all white.

The Chrome one should have the same color pattern as the red, white, and blue one, except that the white areas are chrome.

The Custom Cab's are the ones that came with the chrome emblems. Everything else came with the white... or so I have read. LOL
