Re: New Shoes For The Circuit Rider

70CST, as far as the look you're going for, I think you have it nailed now. The Vette rallies don't remind me of the 60's-70's look only because those wheels were not available in a truck pattern in that time. I'm not saying I don't like the rallies on trucks, though. I do like them, I just don't think they have the "period correct" look. Of course, this is only my opinion.

About the only wheels that will look period correct is Torque Thrusts(what you have), Cragar SS, slots, Keystones, chrome reverse steelies, or plain steelies with hubcaps.

In the end, this is YOUR truck. You have to do what makes YOU happy. I'm only putting in my .02 cents because you asked.

As for the maintenance on the TTO's, my dad has the same wheels on his 56(in 17" though) and he has the same issue. I'm trying to convince him to have a satin clear powdercoat put on them. That way, they stay the same and all is needed is wash and wipe to keep clean

The 5 slot Rally's came out in the late 60's and early 70's. (Camaro-Nova-Chevelle, etc) My 70 Chevelle had them. I think these are called Corvette Rallys may be due to the center cap verses the Derby cap. Just a thought.

In 1970 I could not afford a BB Muscle car due to insurance. In 2012 I still can't afford a BB Muscle car because they cost way to much. If I were to order a C10 back in 1970 I would have purchased as the Circuit Rider is now (Maybe different color) with the Rally's if they were an option. Sort of explains my thoughts ...

Re: New Shoes For The Circuit Rider

I know the rallies first came out in 67 on the Camaros, and later were available on Novas and Chevelles, and the Vettes had them also. What I'm saying is they were never available in the truck bolt pattern until recently(last 10 years or so). They do tend to lend a certain musle-era appeal, so I'm certainly not trying to discourage you, especially since you're about to pick them up. Again, it's your truck, so if you're happy then we're all happy.

Point taken and I agree ...

My truck is not a muscle truck but ....if I was 18 back in 1970 and if these wheels were an option ... These 5 slot Rally's would be the wheels of my choice.

What's great about our trucks is the fact they look good with a variety of differnt style wheels and in different sizes.

Again good input...

Re: New Shoes For The Circuit Rider

First available on the Vettes, they were designed to clear the disc brakes. In '67, they were on Full-size Chevy state trooper cars here in Arkansas....with the "police caps" and no trim rings.

There is a center cap for the 5 on 4.75 pattern of the Camaros, Chevelles and Nova's that has five lugs with red plastic "locators" and a blue bowtie center. I'll find my pix and post it. I happen to have two full sets of those, one still in the original box with all the goodies. They would make a set of chrome rallye wheels look extremely attractive.

But, I'm already running my 2nd set, as the 2nd post on this thread shows.

Well to be honest I pick them up tomorrow at JEGS in Columbus and it will likely be the week end before they are mounted.

I sometimes wish I'd left mine with that silver powdercoat finish, instead of painting them, but I didn't. Anyway, I picked up a nice set of Monte Carlo centers this past weekend at the swap meet at Petit Jean in AR.
