I used fatmat. Went down easy and has no smell. One roll did entire cab.

Looks like I'm going to go out and get some fatmat! Mine rattles something horrible. Although that could be all the missing molding...

Re: Sound Deadner question - Dynamat, Fatmat, etc

Approx how many square feet does it take to do a cab and maybe a little for the doors in places where I can reach.

If I can buy a big roll (for two trucks) cheaper I'm going to try to do so .. just wondering what it takes to do one so I'll know if I have enough for two.

Buy American. I bought 10500 HUSHMAT BULK ACOUSTIC DAMPENING MATERIAL12.1" X 23" 58 SQ FT 30 SHEET. Covered the cab floor entirely with enough sheets left over to do my doors and whatever else. A Google shopping search: there are a couple boxes of it out there for $124.00 and $164.00. This is the stuff auto manufactures use in new cars.

midniteblues...It's holding up well and I have no reason to believe it won't.

I'm going to put some more in the doors when I get to it and under the headliner as well.

Does rattletrap reduce the heat any better than fatmat? Has anyone used both to have a comparison?

Re: Sound Deadner question - Dynamat, Fatmat, etc

Just so you guys know, I used the stuff from Lowes in mine. It turned out really nice. (and it's 120ml ) . . and $18.96 a roll! It took about 2 rolls for mine. (with a little to spare) If I had it to do over, I'd do the same thing again. I'm very pleased with it.

No, it's not Dynamat .. No, my truck's not going to SEMA, .. just trying to stay within budget and I just couldn't spend what the name brand mats cost. I don't use big stereo stuff in mine, and heat is an issue but not the end of the world. It just made sense to me.

Post #414 if you want to see how it looks. Honestly, if it said Dynamat on it I wouldn't know the difference.

I have looked for hours at different types and from what I have read FatMat (which is significantly cheaper than Dynamat but the same concept) stinks (literally as in the olfactory sense). After a thousand reviews and different sites visited I am going to go sound deadener showdown all the way. Just check it out and let us know what you think

I can't rate this site and product any higher...it's what I purchased for my blazer. I didn't do a full coverage on mine, just on flat surfaces. I bought 1 box and will still have enough for my doors, rear quarters and under the sub box. I also picked up the foam as a 2nd layer over it...plus the heavy jute backing on my carpet. I figured with no top, I'd have enough noise that I didn't need it coming from my floors too.

Re: Sound Deadner question - Dynamat, Fatmat, etc

Just an update for an old thread. I did end up buying FatMat and it worked out great. No smell, and noticeably quieter. I also added a layer of Reflectix on top of it to insulate the cab and so far so good on that one too, although cleaning out the blower fan housing definitely helped too. I would recommend 50 sq ft to do a standard truck cab floor and doors.
