Re: The Scary Truck

Small update, tonight at dinner my dad and I were talking about when he painted a chevelle that he had as a teenager. It got me inspired. I'm in no position to paint my whole truck yet. So I'm now in the process of painting my rallies. I'm 75% sure that they will be Krylon camouflage black (Flat Black). So far I have two wheels (one needs a hole patched) wirebrushed, sanded, and cleaned. Tomorrow after work I will clean them again and paint. Then continue with two more wheels, then the spare which is currently on the truck. Also used some steel wool and cleaned up the center caps/beauty rings. Heres a few pics.

Thanks to McCoyAZ for photoshopping this. I'd like to do a drop like this. Not sure, maybe not as low. A 5/5...

Re: The Scary Truck

Got one of the painted wheels on. Once I get all 4 on the truck will look much more mean.

so many holes to fill, why not find a good short bed and convert it to shortbed?

Rust and dents give it character eh? I like the long bed, I'll still be using my truck as a truck for a while hauling things and such. and its really not that bad.. Most of the rust is surface rust.

But there is a new doghouse on the list

Re: The Scary Truck

Alot of nonsense and tinkering today while waiting on wheels to dry. Tomorrow I leave for 2 weeks of vacation. Which means I'll be away from my truck Took some pics with the new shoes tonight. That pesky running board is stubborn and is being a PITA to get off...

Re: The Scary Truck

Welp bad news and good news... Bad news is we came home from vacation for the weekend due to my dog passing away. But in good news this morning I fired the truck up and drove around the yard. I saw a picture on this forum of a manufacturer sticker on the door. I figured I would look at mine, maybe learn a little about its history. Turns out my truck is from/made Canada!

No updates yet. Sports, always consuming my valuable time. I have a little more free time and a paycheck coming up soon so that means a radio
More to come soon. Hopefully

Re: The Scary Truck

Weekend update. Got quite a bit done this weekend for just a few hours of work. Let start with the outside.

Got the ugly running board off. Just an hour of grinding and jumping on it, came right off! Also gave her a little bath.

And on the inside..

This weekend I picked up a radio. Cut the dash and installed it. Looks good. I'll be spending this week running wires to speakers, and an amp/sub.

I installed some red lights underneath the dash. I spliced into the wires running into the heater light bulb. So when the dash lights are on so are the red lights, they also adjust with the brightness.

Re: The Scary Truck

Update! If anyone one still reads my poor neglected thread

Short and sweet. Back bumper off (didn't cut a single bolt). Radio wired up. Truck now has a banging stereo that was 75% free to me. Will get some pics of the inside tomorrow. Hopefully for Christmas I'll get a new sub with a box to go behind a bench seat (or rims haven't decided). Also I have a bench seat headed my way hopefully. Just waiting for my buddy to take it out of his truck.

Re: The Scary Truck

Got a little bit done today. Here are some pics of before I started working. I got the seats out. Sanded a little on the inside and practiced painting. I should be getting my bench seat this week. (fingers crossed). But before It goes in I'm painting the whole inside satin black which will match the outside eventually. Also started to draw up some plans for a custom speaker box behind the seat.

Re: The Scary Truck

What a weekend! Got the inside of the cab painted (except the dash) Seat installed, sub box made/mounted (temporary) and changed my mind about what type of truck I'm building. Lets just say the inner country boy came out of me today.

Ever since I got my truck I planned on a low cruiser. But today that image has changed. I found my dad's old head ache rack in the back of the barn, put it on my truck and I like it. I'm thinking about doing a cross over between 4x4 and a lowrider look. As of now plans are...

Lights for rack (not sure what kind, but lots of them)
Big beefy wide tires (why not? Plus roads around my house are never plowed in the winter)
Flat black paint job
New interior pieces (dash, door panels, steering wheel)
Replace the back bumper after painting it black
Fresh paint job of black on the rack
Toolbox for the bed
POSSIBLY 1-2 inches of lift for bigger tires
New front bumper
... and lots more that will come along the way ...

I'm pretty pumped. Anyone's thoughts on what i should do are welcomed. I'm not completely set on what I want to do...
