Re: how about this swap?
Around here Duramax trucks usually get fixed even if they are rolled. but we have a proliferation of rebuild shops in the area that do nothing but rebuild totals. The engines I've seen advertised usually command a stiff asking price.

Re: how about this swap?
Look for a suburban, they are harder to rebuild due to the large body and are far less desirable then a truck. Even if its killed from the rear or t boned hard it will give you all the major parts you need with every wire and bolt. I bought a 02 burban 4wd from copart wrecked hard granted, its gas, but it was very cheap and I got it back together for half what it is worth. You should be able to find one wrecked but running for the price of the motor from the salvage yard. Then you have all the wiring, ecu, keyless entry stuff and it can be taken to any shop and use the diagnostic tools to find any issues.

Yeah that's a good idea. Thanks. What do you do with the wrecked body and stuff I won't need? Scarp yard or what?

Anything salvageable can be sold on ebay or to local rebuilders. Around here a nice power door is worth $300 -$500, center console $75, quarter glass $100, leather front seats $150-$400, rear 3rd row seat $150-300, wheels $100-$250 each, and a nice complete front clip can bring $3000 with coolers, support and nice sheet metal. The rest can be sold to a rebuilder also, so not so legit will pay at least scrap price for a chunk of metal with a good vin and title. Or just scrap it for weigh

Re: how about this swap?
Awesome thanks for your help guys.
My wife said no more vehicles even parts vehicles so I guess it's a swap for me. Gotta decide on duramax or 6.0, will the 48 frame or 87 frame hold a duramax? I'm sure they both can hold a 6.0 |
