Re: stepside taillights
I am sure am going to follow this thread. We are building a '67 swb stepper with a rear roll pan and I want tail-lights different than stock without cutting any sheet metal if possible.

Re: stepside taillights
A guy can often find bike tail lights in the take off bin at bike dealers that sell cruiser bikes or the Harley shops.
I've got small tail lights that are below the tail gate on my 48 and for a while had a hassle with the cops because at night their headlights overpowered the tail lights and they didn't show up very well. double bulbs and painting the insides of the housings white helped a lot though. sometimes we are too cool for school and install lights that are too small or too hidden for those following us to see or expect where they will be when they come on. I think that may have been my case. The cop was expecting the lights to be out on the sides of the box rather than under the tailgate. There are a number of original style tail lights for pre war cars that are available though the aftermarket with bullet shaped bodies that could be fastened to the side of the bed or to a bracket too. 39 Chev car comes to mind although there are a number of others. Chromed 39 style aftermarket. Maybe a bit much with the chrome though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-REPLACEM...162e15&vxp=mtr painted http://www.ebay.com/itm/1939-Chevy-S...9b8130&vxp=mtr Last edited by mr48chev; 11-12-2012 at 02:51 PM. |
