I know I jump around a lot, but started on the tail lights. I am installing 95 Cadillac lights with custom buckets. I have them ready to weld. The back of light is already hitting the front of stake pocket. I will have to cut holes for the wiring. Will weld after work tomorrow.

I had ordered a tailgate cover from Mar-k for a 69 C10. Well I had opened it and checked for damage, it was ok. Yesterday i went to fit on TG to start sealing the rear (i plan on welding gate shut). Looks like they sent me one for a late 70's truck. i don't want to hassle with returns, so i am going to use a GMC gate i have stashed. Here is the gate with the cover welded on.

Got the tailgate welded on to the box. Right now it has a 1" bead across the top, and around 18" of angle iron welded on the inside. It's there to stay.

From this angle you can see the difference in overall shape. But since I am doing metal work around buckets, I'll just match the contours.


I'll start with the forming after I reassemble the rear suspension tomorrow. The paint on frame should be dry.

Got the rear suspension back together. Only hand tight, will have to adjust wheelbase, and differential angle after it is back together.


Finished sandblasting the a-frames, will paint tomorrow after a light sanding. Should have front suspension together this weekend.

Frame turned out great, nice work! Sorry about the gate skin, that stinks. I would have returned it but I'm just a few miles from Mar-K

I got most of the welding done around the lights. The lens is just sitting in bucket, so they look a little crooked. I still have to finish the bottom of bucket, but I have to buy a rolled pan and match the contour of pan. I probably will go with a 79 rolled pan and eliminate the 69's bottom ridge so it will stay smoother.

Just picked up some wheels on a deal for a 41 Chevy coupe body I had. They are 17x9 Dayton straight lace. I will sell the low profile tires and get some whitewall tires for them.

Got the frame together, and the wheels on. The wheels will clear fine. Right now they are too short. I will be getting taller tires (wide whitewall), that should raise it a couple of inches. It looks like I might have to cut the driveshaft look a little 9on the floor right now with no weight on frame. Even though this level will only be used while parked. I still have to do the front upper a-frame alignment (why the front is bowing).

Oh, man. No disrespect, and to each his own, but those tail lights are literally turning my stomach.

No problem. Imagine how boring it would be if we all had exactly the same tastes. Here is a picture with the first pass (dynaglass) of bodywork. Still have to get the roll pan to finish bottom of lights.

Had some time to work on the truck a bit. Got the body back on the frame. With new rubber mounts of course.



Looks to be around 4 inches off ground (to be lees with the new wheel set-up)
Installed doors, now need to get the pop kits installed.

Just got back from Philippines, and was surprised to find it so cold here. Haven't done anything lately. As soon as it gets a little warmer (at least high 40's in day) I'll start on the air bag plumbing amd hardware mounting. Will post pics as I take them.

I always wondered about using different taillights and what kind would a guy use... I'm liking the look of what you did with the Cady lights... can't wait to see some better pics of that part finished up. nice work keep it up.

Got some time to get back on the 69. Got the roll pan I ordered from Mar-k in. I ordered the one for a newer truck (85) to match the tail gate.

Here it is tacked on. I left the stock sized gap between the tailgat and the pan so any water that gets in there can drain.


Got the small filler panels on, and everything is welded together.



Put the layer of dynoglass on. This will give me tha base to start on the bodywork. I use the fiberglass, so I wont have too much bondo on it. It tends to crack if it's too thick. I is cold here so this looks like all I can do for now. I am stuck working outside. I have the 60 on jack stand in my small garage. I had a vibration at high speeds and am in process of making a shim to get the differential angle where it has to be after lowering truck.


My other big garage has the 30 Dodge truck, and my 59 Apache in peices in one section, and the 05 Corvette in the other.


will continue with the bodywork tomorrow, if the weather is good.

I didn't agree with your tailgate/rollpan choice at first, but you made it look good!
I can't wait to see the rear lights installed and the truck painted up,
