I got around to tacking in my floor panel I made the other day but it was too dark for pics. I'll try to post some pics when I'm done.

Here's a few pics of my floor patch welded in and my goof in measurement, adding the bends made me come up short, but hey, it's only metal!

As you can see I still need to patch the kick panel as well.

Welder and grinder are my best friends! LOL I didn't get to do anything to it today, had to work on some other projects and help my daughter out on her Jeep.

I finally got back to working on the truck, I pulled the 327 out of the 67 a couple days ago and got it in the shed on the engine stand now. I've started scraping the grease and dirt from the last 45 years off of it and stripping off the componants to clean and paint black. I've got to pick up new seals and pan and valve cover gaskets for it. Also going to put in a new timing set while I have it torn down this far.




Looks nice and clean inside the intake, I'm hoping when I open it up that I find everything nice and clean also.

I'm hoping to have it moving under it's own power again before winter. I guess the medium green is going to go away, hadn't really planned to do that, but I got a couple gallons of Ford tractor blue given too me so kinda just makes sense to go blue. It's still just gonna be my daily driver and work truck, that way I can do it all again in 10 or 15 years! LOL

I've been working on detailing the 327, I've got all the black parts redone now. I've started on the engine itself, ready to drain the oil and replace the timing set and seals and gasket. Then shoot the orange and reassemble it all.


It looks pretty clean inside for being 45 years old! I didn't find any sludge build up in the heads!

I didn't get too far with it today, pulled off the other valve cover and oil pan and timing cover and pulled the old timing set (sure glad I got the new one!!!!) and installed the new double roller set. Need to finish cleaning everything and get it ready for the orange paint.

I had a set of these left over from a 283 I had in my 64 Impala. I love the script covers so I dug them out yesterday and cleaned them up. I had to hammer one back out as the old 283 got ran over by a tobacco wagon a few years back! I'll post more pics later as time allows.

I'm getting there slowly, this is where I'm at with the engine as of yesterday, seems jobs keep popping up taking my time, now if I could just get some paying jobs!

I got a good bit more done on the truck today, put some more accessories back on the engine and welded the last patches in to the driver's side kick panel and firewall. Also swapped out the old three on the tree steering column for the straight column out of the 4 speed 70 burb parts truck. I also switched to the steering wheel from my 67 donor truck as I like that style wheel much more!



Hoping tomorrow to get the 327 set in it!

Today was a great day and I'm happy as can be. Some of yall that don't like non body color firewalls won't like this, but knowing that I'm loosing warm days to do any painting I rattle canned the firewall semi-flat black today and my son-in-law and I got my engine bolted back in place! I've still got to put the ram horns back on, but need to pick up some gaskets first, yes mine are kind of rough so the gaskets are needed for sure!

Today's work shows alot more to the casual observer, got the 67 front end set on it and bolted down! I'm feeling good about it!

Looks good. Those valve covers are awesome on there. Replacing the floor on my truck (another low budget type build) and was trying to avoid the scope of the job creaping too much, but after looking at your engine cleanup, I might just have to pull the engine and give it a cleanup/paint job, etc. seeing as though I have the front clip off anyway to get the cab off. Don't have those cool valve covers laying around to use though

I bolted my 70 GMC bumper back on the truck today, it was taken off and stored in 1970 from all I've heard of the truck it came with. It is as nice on the back side as any new bumper. Until I can find a nice Chevy bumper or find someone who wants this one bad enough I'm using it!

Just an update on my progress. I got the truck running again today, the distributor was stuck, I finally got it wiggled free and in time after putting in the new timing set. I hooked up the new power steering lines and got the system bled out, unfortunately it puked out everywhere under the hood. Turns out all that dirt and oil coating the water pump was all that was keeping it from leaking. I still need to rebuild the carburator and replace the waterpump before it's ready to hit the road again. Here's a few pics from today.

Here it is as it sets, still has the old medium green bed on it.

Waiting to put this 67 bed on it soon as I get the cab corners and some patches on the back of the cab under the window welded in. Also going to use this rear bumper later on, I've got a receiver hitch I'm going to modify for it as it is going to be my work truck and will be towing my trailer and my camper as needed.

Thanks, it didn't feel too nice when it was spraying power steering fluid out on one side of the engine and coolant on the other . But it is getting there!
