Re: 1976 GMC Interior transformation complete

You mentioned in the first post that the seat belts have all new webbing, where did you have them done, and what was the cost?

Thanks!

Re: 1976 GMC Interior transformation complete

Great interior. Man I wished I had your door panels from the before shot. My wood grain and alluminum trim is all but almost history. I like my fake wood grain, ha. Nice.

Being mine was blue I was looking for some black ones and stumbled across this guy on ebay that restores them. Luckily he had a set for sale with new webbing, restored buckles everything. Heres another listing for similar set.

Thanks, I originally wanted to keep the woodgrain, but I had this look I wanted to achieve and woodgrain wasnt it lol. I sold all the interior panels to offset my cost.

Re: 1976 GMC Interior transformation complete

I've been wanting to do a similar makeover on my 86. Nice to see that the black/blue works out so well.

I really wanted a black/silver chrome looking interior so thats what I did. Previous owner had an aftermarket dash pad with VIN hole so I hated that, it went in trash can and I found me a crackless OEM one and dyed it. Got some different style door panels from bigblock73 Jeff and sprayed them black. The dash trim was painted black and door trim woodgrain (SEM Landau Black). Trim plastics were painted black and I installed a new headliner since old was sagging. New ACC carpet on floor and back of cab behind seat and new door sill trim. I got a NOS gauge bezel and installed a tach cluster with new lense. Also upgraded the stereo and added a set of rear speaker brackets from bigblock73 Jeff. I found a good console and restored that with gmc emblem. The seat belts have all new webbing. I also got a set of procar low back bucket seats and brackets from summitracing and they fit great.

Heres a few before and after pics.

The company I bought floor carpet from also sells by yard so I bought a section and cut to fit. May sound crazy but its held on with velcro lol. I got the idea from my bedrug on my 2008 silverado, all bedrugs are held up by heavy duty velcro and weigh much more than this, and since mine hasnt sagged or moved in 5 years I figured why not try it for this. I placed strips where needed and it contoured too shape of metal. Factory trucks with buckets came with carpet so I wanted to mimic this too. I got the velcro at home depot, some industrial strength like 2" wide.

Re: 1976 GMC Interior transformation complete

I know this is old but just wanted to add something for those looking to purchase this set up. I am 6'3" and have this set up. The seats are wonderful, the brackets set them high tho. On the lowest setting I still have to duck to see out of the side window and a tilt column is a must. Just FYI.
