Re: FINALLY made a purchase

So it's been a couple years now and I'll give some updates:

Replaced the exhaust with true dual 3" flowmasters all the way back out the rear. The shop was VERY excited to get to do it...even gave me a break on the price.

Replaced the carb with a Holley Street Avenger 750cfm 4 barrel...(the old one has the choke stuck open and I never noticed. :/ )

New battery. Alaska eats batteries.

Other than that....THAT'S IT! I've had the truck for over 2 years and have had minor issues. (had to replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets when I brought it out for the summer. Damn cold weather.)

I've made friends with a guy who built hot rods for a long time before having kids and having to get a steady mechanic job. He's got an extra garage bay at his house and wants to take the truck under his wing this winter...which works out well because I am now working in the up in Prudhoe Bay (the oil fields in Alaska) on a 2 week on 2 week off schedule.

Next Up: Brakes. Big, beautiful brakes. I've been doing some research but haven't landed on a set yet....any suggestions?

Re: FINALLY made a purchase

And I need to pull that power-robbing AC off of there. Absolutely no need for it in AK.

Re: FINALLY made a purchase

Here's a shot of:
1) my babies. the '71 and my 2013 Yamaha Raptor 700
2) Kenai Lake, AK
3) the RIDICULOUS wheels/tires that were on the truck when I purchased it. Sold them for $300 to some ghetto kid from Omaha.
4) My other special lady: 2013 Rock Warrior Tundra (big red)

Re: FINALLY made a purchase

Jealous. but as far as brakes its pretty much just preference. CPP makes a front and rear kit for our trucks, not sure sure about wilwood or Baer other big names.

ECE. Trust me on that one.

But, then again, I'm different. Even though I much prefer your 15's,
I'm pretty careful on slamming stuff like other people's wheel choices.

Those other ones got you three bills. Right?

Call ECE on your brakes.

Thanks for the advice...I'll shop around prices and see what's good...and whose not going to bend me over for being in Alaska.

3 bills...little does he know he could have just taken them from me and I would have been happy. Weather checked Eagle LS-1 tires and flaking cheap 20's?! Those are for the birds.

Re: FINALLY made a purchase

To the original poster (sorry I am too lazy to scroll back to your name).

CONGRADULATIONS on finding a truck you liked and could afford. I must say, even though I love my stepside, I have a desire for a 4-speed fleetside myself.

(Also a panel and burb).
