That reminds me of some funny stories. I used to tote my cars around on an open trailer years back, and used my 79 1 ton to tow (which I still have) and I used to get compliments on the truck all the time,,,it didn't matter that I had $50,000 muscle cars on the trailer behind it, people were just as interested in that $2,000 truck

Nice, it was looking as clean as the one I am looking at, until I saw the engine bay, looks like a restoration, damn shame it is a long bed

You guys up there like your short beds too?

Where I grew up we had no use for short beds, everything was a long bed. I move out West and everyone wants their short beds. Very strange.

Re: Found a MINT 83 Silverado

I am growing more fond of the 60-66 longbeds... still a short box for me though.

Kinda like a 2 door and a 4 door in cars, in most cases a 4 door is more practical but 2 doors are just cooler.

I found this 83 Silverado, it is absolutely MINT, all original, no rust anywhere, period!!!!

305, Auto, PS, PB, AC (works well), 85,000 miles. Is 12,000.00 a good price for this truck? I would like to ditch my Mazda 3 and make this one my DD.

Is the oil pressure a little high? this is at idle after being warmed up, and a 2 mile trip down the highway and back.

Let me know what y'all think...
i noticed in the pic you posted of the tailgate,
a couple of welds and is that rust in the seams?
weird but bed colour seems primer?
is this a resto or rust free? stated in the sale?
the cluster bezel looks spotted
12,000 seems high

I'm having a hard time making that thought process work for me

I have never had anything but 2 door passenger cars even with kids,,,,but just can't do a short bed truck.

Can't put a sheet of plywood in the back and close the tailgate, can't tow anything of any real significance because of the shorter wheel base, and the shorter wheel bases also ride rougher. The long wheel base just has more stability for towing big loads and rides nicer.

But I buy a truck to use it as a truck so that's why I have this point of view. Now for someone else that doesn't need a truck for all that and simply tools around town,,,I can see where the short beds and shorter wheel base would come in handy,,,they manuver through tight spaces better, fit in smaller garages, and drive more like a small car. Out West here that seems to be the theme,,,and for good reason. Most all your parking lots around here are tight.

I have a 72 blazer that I drive daily, so I can appreciate the manuverability compared to my 79 1 ton long bed, but that blazer sure is a kidney buster

I don't see anything unusual there. The welds are just like that on my unrestored 79 pickup, you can even see the spot welds holding the tailgate halves together on both my 72 blazer and my 79 pickup. I don't think GM was too worried about beautifying these old trucks knowing what they were intended for.

Seller states that the PO did paint it, but paint is supposedly a few years old.
Bed is same finish as restof truck.
I am not expert at what I should or shouldn't be seeing. The bed/tailgate look clean to me except for a bit of surface rust around the hinge area. Inner fender areas front and back appear pristine to me.

Re: Found a MINT 83 Silverado

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE AGAIN FOR POSTING YOUR INPUT, VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

I am going to drive my Mazda3 through the winter (really, really nice car BTW), and start looking again in the spring. After seeing the black/grey truck posted by rapidride3, for under 10, which looked quite a bit cleaner than this one, I think I best let this one go.

Re: Found a MINT 83 Silverado

Firebird, shortbeds are like sports cars with really big trunks, I agree with you about a working truck.

Of it was painted a few years ago then all bets are off about the rust free part. The tailgate seams have rust residue coming back out, on original paint it didn't bug me but if it's only a few years old............................

is it open welded or seem sealed?
thought it was used in all over too
and the top and bottom edge of bed seems "rusty"

If that one looks anywhere near as good in person as the pics I would rather ship it to Canada than pay 12k for that white truck.

BTW if you actually want to entertain that notion I am local and could go look at it.

Also a plan. TBI 350/700R4 combo should be more gas friendly than most full size trucks.

Thanks for the input and the offer, there is quite a bit to to importing a vehicle. I am getting ready to dive into some work on my 66, so I will look seriously for a clean square body in the spring.
