When are you going to be here? The Foodlion Autofair will be at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in early October. Thousands of parts and cars to see.

Why don't you tell us your route and we'll give you better suggestions. I just picked my 72 up 900 miles away and drove it back, all went well except for the blow out I had 30 miles from where I started. No Jack not tools, but I did have a spare, which long story short I got mounted. So check those tires, if they are 8-10 years old, do yourself a favor and buy some new ones before you leave. Have fun

Re: 1968 CST SWB anniversary gold
Arrived tired and hungry but our host was a real gem. He picked us up at the airport and showed us what southern hospitality is all about. I couldn't wait to see ol' Caroline so went straight to the mans house and saw her. A true survives and a rare pick up in deed. Absolutely the perfect truck to restore. Z10, you be happy to know that it has brand new tires and was in absolutely great shape... Minor wrinkles here and there but not bad for a 40 pluse year old truck. Were gonna start heading to Nashville tomorrow so if anyone has any suggestion we would love to hear them.
I'll keep posting along the way and try to post pics ASAP. Thanks guys Mo Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1968 CST SWB anniversary gold
Ok guys, quick update. Ran straight for Nashville and arrived safely and sound. The truck ( caroline) performed beautifully and had power to spare. The smokey mountains were gorgeous and so far north Carolina is one of the most beautiful places I've seen in the world. The hospitality and kindness of its citizens was not unnoticed. The roads were in prime shape and the rest stops were almost luxurious . I'm taking lots of pics but ill upload them later. We're gonna spend a couple of days here and check out the city. Next stop is st Louis and we hope to catch a basball game and get in the arch. Great times so far.

Give it about a month, talk about a beautiful place with all the leaves in the fall.
Check out the Jack Daniels distillery on your way through. Its well worth the stop. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1968 CST SWB anniversary gold
Ok boys. We're at the gates of st Louis drove most of the evening crossed from Tennessee to Kentucky then to Illinois back to Kentucky back to Illinois to missouri ! Haha... It was pretty wild. We made one wrong turn and it put us on a dirt road in the dark in the middle of nowhere. A ton of frogs on the road and I started thinking the Blair witch was about to jump and ride in the middle. My buddy tony and I maintained composure, had to crack a coldie (don't condone it) but it might as well have been our last beer. We found our way out on to a paved road and into some sketchy neighborhood in cairo Illinois. Some of the boys on corners gave us some weird looks but I think they just loved ol' Caroline.
We made our way on the 3 and finally on to the 55 north! Tomorrow hotrod shops, baseball game and whatever comes our way! This is awsome!!! I'll be on the 70 in a couple of days so keep is in your thoughts and prayers. America is a beautiful country and I'm blessed to see it this way. Thanks for your guys' support keep the comments coming! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1968 CST SWB anniversary gold
Just make sure you have plenty of empty beer bottles in case you can't make it to the next rest stop. Fill'em up and try to get pulled over and questioned by a young punk cop about them.. Oh, and don't take a wrong turn and backtrack a "tad".
Seriously though, a buddy and I retrieved a non running cheyenne superhorn from WA and had a lot of fun, definitely some good memories on cross country trips! Safe travels

Its weird but I just read your post above mine after I posted- what are the odds of bringing up the beer and wrong turn from the misadventures of Lloyd and Harry without seeing your post first!
