Re: Need help selecting mufflers

Oh that above isnt my truck, this is mine.

See where the exhaust is hanging coming out behind the tire? Yea, i dont like that at all. I have a set of 40 series Flow's that i took off my '79 Malibu about 5 years ago that are in nice shape, just dont know if they'd be too loud or not.

whatta you guys think?
I've only personally heard the aerochambers on a 4th gen Fbody which is a single pipe system with a transverse muffler and dual tailpipes. It was actually fairly loud (no cats) when you cracked it open. I never rode in the car however.

Re: Need help selecting mufflers

Anyone have anything to share about the FlowMaster 50 & 70 series mufflers?

I plan on driving everyday and want to be as quiet as I can while retaining exhaust flow.

out the sides before rear tires on my 79 Jimmy with 305 2B stock, manifolds,H pipe

I've used their transverse muffler a few times that I believe to be a 70 series. Still a bit noisy in my opinion. I run a pair of super 40's on a big block chevelle with a 3" system,,,it's loud.

If you want as quiet as possible while still retaining flow I still recommend Pypes. The CFM ratings on their mufflers are way up there comparable to the competition but keep noise levels very reasonable. For what you want I'd go with the Street Pro version.

Hit their website and listen to the various sound clips they have.

A couple of the more often seen brands of mufflers used in Pure Stock and FAST racing are Dynomax ultra flows and Pypes. That says alot about either of those brands.
