Re: Project 30 years sitting

Sadly, same motor if I dont eff the block up getting the dizzy out tomm.

I cant really afford what I want right now..... 6.2 with the 4l80e and undecided tc. I just need to get it running, do some body work, and then decide where I want to take it.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Thanks. Motor actually looks like a motor after today. 14hrs and it honestly doesnt look like I got much done. But 2 trips to junk yard, and 3 trips to parts store will kill time quick.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Since Ive gotten it running, Ive been doing lots of piddly things.

Plumbed brake booster and pcv valve
re-plumbed some of the fuel line (its going to get changed later though)
installed elbow on power steering line
have gas tank hanging in place (waiting tell weekend to weld braces)
cleaned and tinkered with transfer case selector box. I think I have all 5 positions now.
removed clutch peddle
mounted fuel pressure regulator for elec tank
installed new detent cable
changed trans pan/fluid/filter
installed dust shield for tq conv (it didnt have one)
have the first few feet of exhaust routed. Cant figure out where I want to dump it.
started on some body work testing my new stud-weld gun and slide hammer.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Nice work on the motor. While working on a project it seems you almost put as much time running around to different places for parts and shopping on the internet. Also the research eats a lot of time too.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Havent been taking pics as there is really nothing to see IMO.

Agree on running around, research, etc.

Big snag today, went to back it out to weld on it and it wouldnt stay running. Turned it around yesterday and did just fine??? Compression test showed 6? to have zero compression. Yet will somewhat hold air when doing a leak down test. WTF? Rockers are moving as well.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Here is a pic from last night after turning it around, before I went out for the evening. Still in same spot, but has gas tank bolted and partly hosed up, also has drivers mirror on it.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

No clue what the motors problem was, but it started today and ran fine. So while it was running we did a quick tune on the carb.

Power wire routed but not hooked up for the tank
06an fuel line routed but not hooked up for fuel supply.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

You would think being a photographer, I would take out the good camera and be posting millions of pictures. But most of this is just cell phone shots

I guess next time I'm under it I could get pics of all the sexy aluminum parts on the bottom side that will never be seen otherwise

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Talked to previous owner today, he thinks he may have the original 205 transfer case that has a transmission tailshaft snapped off in the input. Hopefully I can get that off him

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Was under it measuring for mufflers, so I snapped this. Looks like tonight will be a wiring night to upgrade the size of wire for the HEI, and wire in the fuel pump.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Productive day yesterday....
Frame horns fixed with parts from a board member I got a while back.
Pass door hinges replaced from a board member I got a while back.
rear shocks installed
due to frame horns getting fixed, I could finally bolt down the front and install fenderwells with bolts I got from board member Brian A.

This morning I ordered my tires

plan to work on my exhaust more, rewire my fuel pump relay I fubar'd. Maybe get the grill installed. Depends on how many people come help.
