Wouldn't the original cap work? It also allows coolant to escape. All the tank does is capture the overflow. Unless the return flow requires something different.

Where would it mount if there was already an auxiliary battery tray there?

I found one mounted on the opposite side for that reason I assume. It's close, but the hood closes and clears the jug.

Re: Coolant Overflow Tank - Factory in 72?

If an aux battery truck, that's mounted in place of the washer fluid bottle. With an aux battery there is no good place for a coolant overflow tank - I wanted both but my overflow tank is sitting in a box and was never installed. Maybe the washer fluid bottle could be rigged for use on the LH fender and the overflow tank as shown above.

Here is the washer reservoir. It was a big block with aux battery, camper wiring as well.

Re: Coolant Overflow Tank - Factory in 72?

Any chance the overflow tank is listed on SPID together with the aux battery? Seems like a nicely optioned truck...

Great photos. Thanks for sharing!

The glovebox door was missing so I couldn't check the SPID, and I'm not sure it was original to the truck as it was mounted with slot head screws. Here are a couple pictures just for reference.
