Re: Front clips
PM from Jeff:
I appreciate your honesty. I know the aftermarket kits are nicer and better. But I would rather get my truck going with what I can now and I can always build a frame with a aftermarket ifs later. Do ou mind telling me what actual years and certain cars I can use. I heard camaro, caprice, nova. Can you list what years to use for certain vehicles. Thanks for your help. You can give me a call if that's easier, thanks Jeff No problem. There are differences in the clips. The '70 - '81 Camaro and Firebird are the ones we chose. They have better steering and suspension geometry than the others. Also, there is more aftermarket support for them. Spindles, big brakes, bushings, ball joints, springs, A-Arms, Bag kits, ... Of those front clips, the '79-'81 Z-28, and Trans-Am had the biggest sway bars. All '79-'81 F-Body's (camaro/firebird platform) had the larger outer wheel bearing, 13/16" compared to the 3/4" I.D. bearing from the '70-'78. It is also good to know the exact year of the clip you get for service, since thee are slight changes in LCA bushings in the ealier clips.
