Re: If you didn't have a 67-72 Chevy what year would want?
Okay, when these trucks were introduced for the '67 model year, they offered creature comforts that had been limited to cars. I get it.
I had a '38 GMC, and I've also had a pair of '61 Apaches, four '65's, and my '69, as well as a pair of '96's. The '38 was a project that was sold as I moved back home in '71. Nostalgia makes me wish I had kept it, and built it as a street rod. But, the 65-year old, 265-lb me knows it would be a tight fit to drive. Oh, but nowhere near as tight as the '40 Bantam pickup I once owned. The '67-72's are a great compromise for the range that I have owned. Even though I was not impressed with the change in styling that GM introduced for '67, I do like them now. So, I'm staying with what I have.

Re: If you didn't have a 67-72 Chevy what year would want?
i like the 41-46 and 47-53 trucks. specifically what i'd like to build is a 1 ton lwb panel truck (already have my 72 Burb c20). i would put in a 292 backed by a modern 6 speed and hide the running gear from a 2000+ 1 ton GM truck behind factory looking wheels/caps. most of the HD trucks were low on bling, but i'd want the chrome bumpers, all the optional trim and accessories, and on a 47-53 i'd run wide white walls!

Yes gotta love the older trucks, the 47 above has lots of nice body lines and cool grill, nice truck. I like the styles from 37 to 47 the best and also the 1948 Ford???

Not sure I would have one but, I know I would want one. I've always liked these trucks.

Yeah!! bigpaul's '46 is a prime example of what I've often thought of. I recently found a '58, metal is in excellent (really excellent) shape and it's complete, minus the rear end. Could have bought it in the $650.00 - $850.00 range...then, I found another '72!!

Hey frkypunk. I also like the 38. I think I really have a soft spot for the 56-58, oh screw it. My plan is to have one of each style 53 - 72 Been looking or dreaming thru adds for a 67 swb lately

There, are we feeling better now? You asked what I want.... well, my truck needs to be 4WD, and I don't have the talent to build a cool-looking older rig, so I guess I want a '72 K20. Lucky, huh?

Re: If you didn't have a 67-72 Chevy what year would want?
There's not a truck I'd rather have than my Blazer. But if I had to choose another truck, I'd probably go with an older Bronco. Sacrilege, I know, but...
If I were staying in the GM stable, I'd have to include cars. There I think I'd look for a 72 Cutlass convertible. |

We had one of these in our driveway growing up so I've always wanted to have one of my own (speaking of late '30s)...

Re: If you didn't have a 67-72 Chevy what year would want?
I'd get a 64-66 Big Back Window short fleet with P/S P/B and a 283 wirh auto trans. I'd also get a 98'99 GMT400 short fleet with as many factory options as possible.

I love this site! Even when you are poking fun at me. Turns out I just happen to get rid of my 70 today. (does that mean I have to change my name?) traded it for a 2005 tundra. So a older Chevy project is in my future.

Re: If you didn't have a 67-72 Chevy what year would want?
Since I've already got the 48 and it will never go while I am still able to drive it and the 71 will most likely never go unless it goes to my uncle's grandson or great grandson some day I'd have to say a 56 Big window was high on my list along with a two wheel drive 67/72 Blazer. I've got too many projects now to think about any more unless someone drops a huge sack of money in my lap and I can fully retire and just play in my own garage full time.

My next choice would be 63 BBW and then a 74 the year I was born.

For me it would be the 39 ,maybe cause I owned a 39 Chev 2 door master when I was a younin ,,I really like the grille look on the 39 ..but I wouldnt want the "knee action" only straight axle up front..

Re: If you didn't have a 67-72 Chevy what year would want?
They would have to be converted to 4x4 but a 55-57 1 ton panel truck, a heavier short school bus of the same years or a REO Speedwagon D19XA pickup would be near the top of my fun but impractical truck list. The topper of course would be a little Campbell Woodie on a Power Wagon or a Chevy based Convoyer 2-ton.
