Re: Exahast routing?
I really wasn't trying to start an argument. And I don't think one sentence is really "a whole lot of folklore." Personally I think less than a 2" pipe is ridiculous on an aftermarket vehicle, especially with a V8. Not to mention that my piping is not mandrel bent so the decrease in pipe diameter in those bends cuts down the flow anyway. A bigger pipe just increase the diameter of those bent sections, but it probably ends up much less than 3" anyway. Mufflers do the same thing.
Although now that I think about it, why do high performance track cars use bigger pipes then? Still not trying to start an argument. I'm very serious if anyone has any insight. I'm part of a group of guys who goes to the NJMP every once in a while and they race their Evo X's while my brother and I drive a 240sx. Both cars use much bigger than 2" exhaust pipes. And they are from reputable brands that produce quality performance parts. Ours is from HKS. Why would they make a kit that size if it wasn't optimal for performance? Does it have to do with having the turbos? Sorry I'm jacking your thread OP. I'll give it back I promise haha

Re: Exahast routing?
Not a problem Will, it's all good info.
Well I got a price from the exhaust shop...they only work on Mustangs but he reckons he can do mine. I also found while searching bruin_d's routing of his exhaust on his Burb, I took the liberty of copying his pics and forwarded them to my guy and the second price is for that layout......now I need to make some stateside calls for short tube headers. He said... To cut out the center cross member fabricate tubing to accept the new exhaust piping use your existing mufflers and exit in front of rear wheels mild steel $882 stainless $1,203 Or... to route as in pictures (no cutting of cross members ) using your mufflers mild steel $601 stainless $922

Re: Exahast routing?
Holy cow. I just bought the mufflers and brought them to the shop that did mine. He fabricated the tubing and made his own x-pipe with all stainless for right around $500

I know man, this is why it's so hard keeping American iron on the roads here, expense is just a part of it....finding people that will work on them were you are reasonably confident that they are capable of doing a good job.
