Re: Rock Auto Parts

I use Rockauto for better brand parts, like Moog chassis parts, Timken Bearings,
Spectra tanks and radiators, AC Delco, ect. Local Napa or Carquest for quick repairs.
Please do not use Parts Geek, the worst customer service on the planet, never did get my missing parts from them, out a good chunk of change.

Re: Rock Auto Parts

I've spent literally thousands at rockauto over the years. Even with shipping to the great white north it's usually much cheaper than buying at home. I only shop at the local jobbers if I need something quick.

Re: Rock Auto Parts

I hear all good about rock auto
They are " into it" they sponser charity events I hear
Personally I buy from a small family owned place,a "one guy counter"
Ask about jobbers prices, that's what I get most times
Have since high school,Most important is I get the part when I want/ need it
Or if I can wait he slows the shipping saving money

Re: Rock Auto Parts

Thanks for the replies. I ended up printing out the price list and bringing it to my local NAPA that I usually go to anyways an they were able to work with me on everything with comparable items. It worked out to with in 15% and I still got everything locally should I ever have a problem or a warranty issue.

Re: Rock Auto Parts

I occasionally shop at Rock Auto, but most of the time when I order things they are heavy and/or sourced from different warehouses and the shipping & handling charges push the cost up to within a few bucks of buying locally. Buying locally also means I get instant gratification, build relationships with the staff, etc... All the local stores can usually source parts from their warehouse next day for little or no extra cost too which is nice, and if for some reason I need to return/exchange/warranty it's no hassle to deal locally.

There's only a hand full of companies left that make or rebuild parts anyway. Even the parts in the store specific boxes generally were sourced from the same supplier. Some are even suppliers for OE. Napa kind of has their own network of suppliers, but otherwise they're all pretty much the same, and even Napa's stuff is sometimes just reboxed other brands. Most of the time the only difference between parts sourced from one store vs another is any extra warranty or guarantee the store tacks on. Filters are a good example of this. Napa Gold filters are Wix, so are Car Quest Blue, or you can buy Wix filters in a Wix box from Rock Auto. It's all the same part, just painted labeled and boxed for different vendors. Starters and alternators are another good example. Nearly all the stores source their parts from the same hand full of suppliers who box them accordingly and ship them out. Batteries.... there's only a couple battery manufacturers. Exide, JCI and Deka/East Penn supply all the brands of batteries you're familiar with. For a while the good Car Quest suspension parts were Moog, but I believe that changed a few years ago after the Moog fire.

Re: Rock Auto Parts

I've had great success with rock auto. They have great customer support. If i have a few days to wait i order from them. If i need it quick i use carquest and napa. But the prices at rock auto are hard to beat.
