Making some good progress my friend! That level of rust might scare me off but it looks like you've jumped right in and attacked it without looking back! Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

Ok finally had some time to work on the ole truck,I got another grill cuz mine was tweaked a little, the top one was the one that came off of truck and the bottom is the replacement even though the top one looks better,oh well It's got patina.ALSO needed to work on the frame horns since the frame is a 70,so I cut the ends off to add the correct ones so I can put the bumper on.the header panel is tweaked, and of course one side of the radiator support is rusted out on passenger sideGot some patching to do on the fender wells near the front, got lucky and only rung off 2 bolts,The front end has never been apart, had to take a hammer and screw driver to chip away the undercoating, the battery box is perfect just needs to be cleaned and painted,I got more done in one afternoon than months considering all the rain and bad weather since the truck is outside..but I still got a long way to go,I'm gonna patch it up for now and prolly go ahead and get tags and put it on road to use as a back up vehicle.atleast if I get all the patching done then it will be easier to redo later...

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

Woo-hoo got the driver floor-toe board all patched up and the rocker all welded up. got the door back on and now done pulled the passenger door and tearing out the rocker and the flooring, hopeing this side will go faster. someone has already replaced the lower fender section but they didn't replace the brace that the bottom of fender bolts to. got a long way to go. then I can start patching up the radiator support and the fender wells. Proly gonna need another hood as this one is pretty toast.. It'll do for now as it will be a while before I start on out side. Gotta replace door bottoms inner and outer, so I've got plenty to keep busy..

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

You are a brave man, tackling all that sheet metal work!
I wish I had the body work talent to do that, and get it right.
Keep at it!

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

Thanks Jason, I don't claim to be a body man I don't mind tearing one apart as far as sheet-metal cutting and grinding and welding, It's that fine sanding primer and more primer and more sanding more primer. It's that fine tuning the body for paint. But in the end will be worth it. I've got close to paint on a lot of vehicles, then for some reason another I always have to sell and never see the end product, I vowed that I will finish this one. I'm getting too old to be starting all over again.

Thanks TJ In post #31 you can see it has a later model radiator Just sittin there with no mounts or support on the bottom just sittin on frame so I cut a piece of flat stock and bolted across the frame rails and used some 1x2 square tubing with cutouts for bottom of radiator to sit in,Lined it with some split vacumn hose. So know it has support from bottom. Maybe it will last til I can get a new one the right one..Anywho that's one last thing to worry about..
