Re: 66 pro-touring build
That's awesome! My daughter gives me grief as well ever since I sold the '69. Hope the 66 will be done this year.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
next step was to finish the paint on everything and start final assembly(i hope) on the frame. Was debating over polish, powder coat, paint, or chrome on all the aluminum suspension parts - decided on a metallic gray/silver color. Have been working on the firewall and transmission tunnel, but that seems to be one step forward 3 steps back.
The last picture is with the corvette wheels and 275/40-17 tires - I'm hoping to run at least a 275/45-20 on the front and a 305 or 315 on the rear.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
Love the build. I'm doing something similar with a 66. C4 Porterbuilt dropmember and a 4 linked narrowed 9" rear.
Nice work on the swaybar.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
I'll try and get some pics up tonight that should bring the build up to where I currently am. Just installed the radiator - decided to go with a 69 camaro ls1 radiator from griffin, also go the power steering cooler mounted. About the only thing left on the chasis is emergency brake cables, and deciding where to put the transmission cooler - under the bed or in the front somewhere??

Re: 66 pro-touring build
and one of the painted motor installed - used kook's headers for a G8, they fit great except for the no 2 pipe hit the frame - I cut it out and redid it and everything fit great. Kinda funny as the stock g8 manifolds and cats fit with plenty of room.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
I decided to "cheap" out and use the new holley brackets for the air, alt, and ps - it ended up being about $600 with me using my old alternator. I was impressed how nice it came out. So here are a couple of pics of the radiator mounted and the pulley system, the exhaust is 3" x-pipe into 2.5" magnaflow mufflers, and the last picture shows the ps cooler peeping out from behind the bumper.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
So, finally finished the transmission tunnel and firewall - well at least most of the way. Went old school and used a wheel barrow for the setback in the firewall and bent some metal to make the trans tunnel - dont have a roller so had to make due with what i had. I think it came out ok.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
Also decided the dash needed a little changing - nothing major, just a little spruce up. I cut the ends off of an extra dash i had and made "pods" on the stock dash. I really like the way it came out - dont think anyone would notice unless they know our trucks.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
progress hit a big stop sign, got sidetracked on a motorcycle(zx7r) project, but now that end of school and dance recitals are over I can get back at it. Working on some rust repair on the bottom rear of cab, then hopefully be ready to prime the cab and start to get all the other stuff worked up. Should have some pics of where i am at soon.

The dash mod is so original looking, just like it could have come from factory, we wish right, good thinking and great fab skills.
