Re: Lengthening a C30 157" frame
Uncle - thanks for going to the trouble and sending those pics - looks like someone went through a lot of cut/weld/reconfigure to get that very long WB one of our C30s. You have satisfied my curiosity there, much more time/work/$$ than this project calls for. Thanks again.

Re: Lengthening a C30 157" frame
hey guys just reading the thread and theres alot of good tips going around. i am kinda doing the samething but i need to shorting my frame not lengthening. mine is a 68 c30 started life as a motor home. i removed the motor home and am putting a A&W wrecker body. but im not sure if it would be easier to cut my frame or get one of a newer year so i can have easy disk brakes. some my question is does a 68 body bolt on a newer frame?

Re: Lengthening a C30 157" frame
Cutting down the frame 24" is a project.
Remeber driveshafts and brake lines need rework too. IIRC the only real frame difference going to later frame would be the front core support mounts. The disc brake front end is a bolt on up through the late 80s. Wrecker use is very hard on fromes especially side pulls of any real angle. Make sure your modifications are up to it.

Re: Lengthening a C30 157" frame
thanks guys. im not going to use the truck everyday more or less just something differnt. im also considering making it 4x4 so if thats the case a frame swap would be the best choice. its also getting a first gen cummins and 5 speed. something kinda differnt
