I like animals just as much as my Dad does but after seeing him roll his '67 shortbed because of a dog, I just can't bring myself to swerve anymore. Glad everyone is ok.

OK, Here goes, when I bought Blue I was using him as a dd while I did some work to my other toy. It's a 71 El Camino which I'm also 2nd owner of. The PO was backed into in 1996 thus he put it his garage and never drove it again. One day he told me to get it out of there and make him proud. I had it running in two days and it was my dd for a year. Then I got Blue, so I tore the elco down to repair front end and paint it. Well its not painted but it is put back together so I could quit driving my K30 dually as a dd. Gas was killing me at 50 mi a day. By the way I converted the elco to look like a 70, I like em better looks wise.

Re: Remembering Dads Lessons

That sucks! A few years ago I bought my wife a Chevelles for valentines day, we took it out to go to dinner and on the way home a big doe jumped out in front of me, I got lucky and remembered not to swerve, thank goodness because right next to the road is a thousand foot deep canyon. I didn't even put on the brakes, just hit the deer and kept on going! I saw the deer get up and walk away. The front of the Chevelle didn't fair so well but wasn't to bad, bent the bumper, grill and hood and I had it looking good as new in a week.
Ever since I put my aftermarket aluminum steering wheel on my truck I think about what it would do in a front end crash, I keep imagining one of the spokes in the steering wheel slicing my arm up if it broke in a crash. What does your steering wheel look like now? Did it bend?
Glad your okay! Get that truck fixed up!

It has a grant wood wheel and I broke the wood off the front and back in a 6" section, by the way I did that with my face

Re: Remembering Dads Lessons

Nice ElCamino! My buddy had a 67 (I think, it was the square body) and had it restored, it was beautiful. The day he got it out of the paint shop he picked me up to go for a ride, he was acting a little funny and right about the time I realized he was drunk he swerved to miss a cat, we did an instant 180 and hit a power pole in reverse doing about 65. The bed and tailgate were wrapped all the way around the pole and our heads went through the rear window. Ironicly it happened right in front of the hospital. We got out and pryed the elco off the pole, got back on the hiway and drove about a mile before the cops pulled us over. I was driving by then so they thought I had done it! Fortunately my buddy took credit for the wreck, he did a couple days in jail and spent the next year going to classes and paying off about $3000 in fines.

Wow! That must have hurt! Lets see a pic of your face! Were you able to hold on to the wheel or did your hands slip off? Almost makes me wish after market airbags were available! Will your ins pay anything?

Thanks for compliments on the Elco. I was able to hang on. My camera would be ruined if I took a pic of my face even before I hit it
