Re: CANNOT STOP Oil LEak If I don't Know Where its Coming From...PLEASE Help!!

I would stay away from a 350, i have a crate 350 and also have a very simular leak as yours and nobody can figure it out. The guys in the car club just said to me, "its a chevy motor".

All engines can leak when there old. Im pretty sure the 350 is the most produced engine ever. Go for it and enjoy it.

Too bad to hear about your experience with that shop. I agree on at least trying to re-coup the cost of that fleecing you've had.
Last summer I payed a shop $400 to "fix an oil leak" , kind of a last minute thing, before a 2500 mile road trip. A couple hundred miles later I stopped to pee in Idaho and about died when I looked underneath. How I wish I'd have fixed it myself to begin with. Mine ended up being a bent timing cover. It looked like somebody tried to install a new crank shaft seal with a jack hammer. I don't know how anybody, let alone a professional shop, could've thought that was ok! Anyway, I got a replacement out of a junkyard and fixed it myself in the driveway of friends house in Montana. I was afraid of something coming through the side of the block on the way home, or I would've taken it back. I never did try to re-coup the cost. I wish I would've.

Good luck on your new motor search.

$3000 and the butterfingered goons didn't fix the &^$%#* leak? A NEW 290hp crate 350 is $2,000. I'd be irate.
I'd also dispute the charges with Amex or Visa. It doesn't matter how much time they put into it. They didn't fix the problem. These guys are in a service industry. They didn't deliver the service. No fix no dollars.

That really blows. Find a better shop. Better yet, start buying tools and do this stuff yourself, it's not that hard to learn. You get more satisfaction out of the deal too.

A Goodwrench crate 350 will not leak just because it is a Chevy. Go for it, you'll be happy.

I bought a 350 goodwrench crate 6 months ago or so, and I love it. I installed it myself and there's not a leak one. Jegs does free shipping on all goodwrench motors too. Only thing is on the warranty it says it's suppost to be installed by a "GM professional" or warranty is void. But it's a good strong motor, I have no complaints. Good luck and lets us know what u go with.

Little late for this now, but my motor had oil in the exact same place (Just 15 more years of it) turns out it was my valve cover gaskets, they were leaking from the rear.
