Re: What makes a square classy?

you stay classy san diego!!!

sorry i had too, i think classy would be, stock trim, solid color or a simple two tone, nothing too busy, and not too low, because that just beats the piss out of your truck, and theres nothing classy about that!

Re: What makes a square classy?

The truck that Malo83 posted and Classic87's are what I would consider classy. Nice complimentary wheels, mild drop (or lift for a 4x4), super clean, well polished, with stock trim and deep, rich paint. Ready for a cruise or car show.

They remind me of the beautiful woman in an elegant evening gown, who walks into a room and instantly grabs all of the attention.

My two squares remind me of "working" girls. Pretty once, pretty beat up now.

I kindly disagree with your misinformed perception. I don't know if my truck is considered "classy", but I assure you the air ride suspension does not "beat the piss" out of it. If anything its a major improvement over the stock suspension.

(Sorry. Couldn't resist.)

By way of further detail, I've done 7 or 8 versions over the last 35 years or so. The red truck pictured has been a daily driver for 26 years and 200,000 miles with no issues.

Re: What makes a square classy?

"Classy" can meen different to alot of people. Stock trim is nice, but so is no trim at all. Too much trim, to me, looks gawdy. Like bed rails, hood emblems, big mirrors, etc. I like the term "Timeless". As in 20 years from now a truck looks just as good as it does today.

i would have to agree with you mostly because with my truck i went with the old school look and no matter what other square body rolls by me i have a good feeling my truck has better class (not many people do the old school look anymore)

Tires: 295/50-15's on 15x10 centerline wheels
suspension: just a simple 2 inch lowering shackle in the back
paint: the classic two tone look with a pinstripe instead of factory trim(p.s. "two tone isnt always a grandpa thing, depends on what else you do to the truck)
interior: nice and cozzy, carpet everywhere (dash, floorboard, seat, everywhere)
sterio system: a nice set of subs(respectable bass) will also do you good and the ladies love it too
windows: i tinted my side windows at 20% and limo tinted the back glass and eyebrow(lot of people compliment on that as well
exhaust: dualed out before the rear tires with some respectable awesomely toned magnaflow mufflers(no drone, people love the tone and sound they say "it's different and has good rumble with a good deep tone")

Re: What makes a square classy?

No offence to anyone but imo one of the biggest killers for these trucks is huge chrome wheels and low profile tires. I think a little bit of a drop with nothing bigger than a 16" wheel is perfect. I think 4x4's with those Dick Cepek wheels (and the other brands that are similar) are trashy. Not just for these squares, but for every truck on the road.

You can't beat old school and stockish looking. No crazy paint jobs, no crazy interiors, no awful wheels, no shaved door handles/tailgates/mirrors, and overall cleanliness is what makes a truck classy.

I know your intentions were well meant, I just wanted to offer some informed input. If a truck is lowered with the proper components, it will improve the ride and handling with out having a negative impact on the suspension components. The emphasis being on properly installed components.

Thanks for all the kind words from all that offered them.

Re: What makes a square classy?

classy is in the eye of the beholder, inotherwords...personal taste. Whats classy to one person may not be classy to another. As with anything, build it for yourself, not whats "popular" on any forum

Mine is doing ok but in general they don't hold up well.

I had mine here in Michigan for a year or two, then it spent the bulk of it's life in Phoenix and in Montana.

I drove it here the first winter after I fixed it up (2009/2010) but have been fortunate to not have to drive it these last couple winters (due to being in a company car).
