Re: "Mable" 1959 Apache Build On A S-10 Frame

Just a few quick updates...

Brake booster and pedals are mounted up!!

Pedals ended up in the stock location just about

Got my bullet caps and lug nuts to match for the cragars. Still need tires

Started on the floor boards. Gonna replace the section from the seat mounting humps to the fire wall. My fabricator bead rolled it for that factory look...

Shouldn't be to long and this frame will be laying on the concrete!!

Nice build. I'm nearby too if you need some help. Check out the NC SC section. We are trying to get a gathering together. Eastern NC.

I saw that MichiganMetalWorks is making s10 arms to custom specs for s10 swaps needing longer Aarms. Might open up some possibilities for some TF truck builders.

Re: "Mable" 1959 Apache Build On A S-10 Frame

Been kinda slow on progress lately. My friend had to finish up a F word 64 F-100 he was working on so we could get the 59 in the shop. Buuuuuuttt.....

Got the floors hand built. Everything is welded up now. Haven't taken a pic yet though...

Got my wheels painted a charcoal grey. Slapped some tires and bullet caps on and did a little test fitting. Threw on a bedside for ****s and giggles...

iPhone edited,

Ohh it's gonna be lowered alright. More like a foot, lol. The rockers will be in the dirt!! Got all my air ride parts already. Once the cab comes off next, we're gonna spray the inside and underneath then the air bags are gonna be installed!!

Re: "Mable" 1959 Apache Build On A S-10 Frame

Any updates on this? This thing is sick. How's the track width? I was under the impression that the s10s were too narrow, not sure just wondering.

Aftermath59, nice fab work. I love the fleetside beds on these trucks. I can not wait to see it on the ground.

Re: "Mable" 1959 Apache Build On A S-10 Frame

Liked the thread....I have a 58 Chevy 3200 (Alice) on an S10 frame...I did not do this build but am doing some other project trucks like a 59 GMC fleetside (short), a 54 Chevy 5 window, 54 GMC 5 window and a 67 long bed big back window..looking to do some frame swaps for some of these. I have a K1500 frame that I got in some dealing and it looks like a pretty good swap for the 59 GMC....the guy before me laid down a 58 cab, the doghouse, and the bed and it looked great. BTW....my 58 is Alice.

i saw this truck when it was for sale on Ebay. When you have time, I'd love to see pictures of how the body is mounted on the frame

Re: "Mable" 1959 Apache Build On A S-10 Frame

Yeah, will do but may be a little bit since I am currently setting up a shop space and transferring vehicles etc. I am interested in the same thing and have poked around a little bit. Looks like the builder did pretty solid job with everything and did a good job on all the basics. She does need some adjustment for power steering belt tension and maybe some clearance inside of the wheels (like spacers). The pictures I included give you a general idea that the frame is a little narrow which leaves room for wider tires (good) but would not look as desirable without the wider tires (bad) in my opinion. I am in the process of changing out the grill to a refurbished chrome grill, and chrome headlight covers, and a chrome bumper....and will most likely add the stainless trim around the outside of the cab area as well. Also going to change out the side view mirror on DS to a chrome long arm peep style and match it on the PS. And, have right seat for it since it had a really crappy seat or have one from a 95 K1500 cab that I might use...with a Mexican blanket. She also needs a windshield wiper motor and blades, arms installed. Turns out none of the gages are reading so will address that as well. I will make a thread when I start the 59 GMC frame swap but that will be a personal truck and I will put a lot of time and effort into that one so it will be a longer project.....the two 54 5 window trucks will be flips and I want to get them done and ready to sell ASAP. Not sure what I am going to do with the 67 yet except to rob it of a built 355 that I intend to use on one of the 54s.
