Re: Wrecked the chevy
I rebuild wrecks for a living and I lost a brother in a car wreck It is a whloe lot easier to replace that old sheermetal. Im sure right now while both of you are without your rides it is still a sore subject in more ways than one, but belive me when I say it is just old metal no matter how much you love your truck it can be fixed or replaced. The ones you love or even like a lot can't. Now back to the truck, if you would like to either send me some pics of the frame or post 'em up here I'll look at them and give an opinion on weather it would be cheaper/easier to replace or repair the frame under the truck now. Too bad your not close to me as my frame machaine is empty right now and I would have been glad to help a brother out as it were. Oh, two more thing glad your both ok, it still is a nice truck. Jim

Re: Wrecked the chevy
When I was your age, I wrecked our brand new 69 GMC. Brought down a power pole in 3 peices. knocked the entire drivetrain off the mounts. Only thing good was the cab and bed, but they fixed it. After that, I slowed down.

Re: Wrecked the chevy
Wow, I am glad you and your girlfriend are OK. I think it is a saver for sure. That is a nice looking truck. It does not look like from the photos that it got into the front suspension too bad. Does it roll and steer OK? If the frame won't straighten out, find a donor frame and have the horns welded on yours (everything from the control arms forward). I remember when something like that would have got scraped. It is just to valuable now to not fix it. Besides that, you and your girlfriend will have a interesting story to tell your grand children some day

Todays Progress
Straightened front of the frame and welded a patch in the radiator support. Taking it next Sunday to get the frame straightened and back in line.

Re: Wrecked the chevy
Sorry about your truck but its sure encouraging to see a young guy able to do that kind of work! I have three daughters and none of their boyfriends during high school could even jump start a car. My girls would have to do it for them! It seems like if its not a phone to text on young guys aren't interested in it. Good for you! And good luck rebuilding your truck!

Re: Wrecked the chevy
You're coming right along with it. I'd be sure to give those brakes a good checkover while the truck is down too. Heck even upgrade them.
And how is the gf's truck coming along?

Re: Wrecked the chevy
Sorry about the truck, what a bummer. You sure are making progress though. Did you hit your steering wheel at all? I've always been scepticle about mine. It's a pretty solid object and it's not that far away from your body.

Re: Wrecked the chevy
Hello CUB1450,
If you decide to recycle the old aluminum grill could bring you some good money for your new parts. I got about 80 bucks on my old messed up one last year. Sorry for your mishap, but it is looking good on the rebuild pics, GOOD LUCK and hope to see it finished! R/ Billy

Way to go, man. Hey, mind if I ask how much you paid for that frame work / how long it took?
