Yes. The same mirrors were available regardless of nameplate (ie, Chevy or GMC).

What do you suppose the car on the right is (big Buick, maybe)?

Looks boxy kinda like a 69-71 Chrysler C body. Big Buick might work too but can't see much chrome. It's too far away to get enough detail. Whatever they are... the guy has some Detroit land yachts.

That's a great idea.

Sell them on your idea. They may give you all the info and you may find the original truck

Re: Help identifying my Grandpa's truck

With as nice as the truck looks, the hubcaps and body colors, the fact they are posing with it (as if they just got it)...I would venture to say its a 74. A rear shot of the tailgate would tell us for sure.

Re: Help identifying my Grandpa's truck

I've got a dumb idea/suggestion... since it is a scanned picture, and that truck is too clean to have been worked for a few years before it was taken... check the back of the photograph for a date. Many times the developers put an ink date stamp on the back of the picture somewhere. If it was developed in say... may of 1974, we would know it couldnt be a 75 or 76 truck....

Re: Help identifying my Grandpa's truck

Unfortunately, I don't have the original picture. It is long gone (thank goodness I at least have a scan). I live in Missouri, and our family's lumber yards were in Nebraska. I don't have any living family member's left there (hard to believe, still sinking in). I plan on calling Kearney, Nebraska's DMV and going from there. Maybe they can point me in the right direction. My grandfather was a pretty popular guy in town, his name still exudes some power (I hope). Maybe if I tell my plans, I will get someone to extend some information not normally available. Thanks for all of your help.

Re: Help identifying my Grandpa's truck

I also just purchased a 1974, 1975 and 1976 dealer brochure on ebay to try and match up some pictures and paint colors. Figured it wouldn't hurt for less than $20.

Re: Help identifying my Grandpa's truck

You could also go to gm heritage center website and look up the options for the whole truck series of that year in a pdf file click on chevrolet trucks not listed below and look through a couple of the years ... http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...tion-kits.html
