Re: Pros and cons of putting 6.5 speakers in the doors

I did put some 6.5" components in mine a LONG time ago and I just re-did it with some updated ones. I mounted the tweeter up in the Chrome strip.

I guess, originally I figured if I ever wanted to patch it, I could put back some metal in there and then get a whole new lower carpet piece to cover the hole.

I do like the sound of them in this location though. Keep in mind that the power window does come down low forcing the placement of the speaker really low on the door. I also used a spacer to allow some additional depth.

I will say though, I'm not really a fan of the orange speaker cone....

Re: Pros and cons of putting 6.5 speakers in the doors

I'd be afraid to kick 'em. If you look at my door there are scratches up and down the bottom of the door from my boots.

Re: Pros and cons of putting 6.5 speakers in the doors

here with salt etc, they have/use a plastic foam liners in there for water protection
can't say about using it inside/door clearance issues tho

but i'd still kick em,salt would wreck em
of course you could go "natural sound"
like my PO did, lol, no radio and but colour matching speakers!
his buget was 2 screws I guess
I guess it lets you "avoid" them?

we can get towed from the road for an inopertive braking system here....
seized or missing....then you need a safety inspection again
