Re: Removed the patina from my 65
hey sig - i think it turned out very nice- matches well and looks great. completely understand your approach and the way you're going about it.
you mentioned installing the side trim - will you be painting the insert white or something like that? That would look pretty nice imo. Good luck, looks real nice. I like patina too - but I like what you've done better in this case. |

Re: Removed the patina from my 65
looks good to me, as far as the patina or paint goes i like them both ways as well but it all boils down to what you like and your the one who will be driving it so make yourself happy happy happy.

Re: Removed the patina from my 65
I think both ways look cool, but personally prefer to be rid of rust. I live in the desert, and our cars don't rust much, so when I see it, it bothers the hell out of me. It's a popular thing to leave the patina lately, but I've never cared much about being popular.
I say do it however you want though. It's not the paint that makes these trucks look cool to me, it is the shape of the truck. My truck doesn't have the benefit of having very visible surface rust. I buff the paint and the rust disappears, so I would have to fake the patina, but I don't really like that, so I'm going to go ahead and just paint it again. |

Re: Removed the patina from my 65
i like patina but i hate rust. if a truck has worn paint with primer showing that is fine. if the primer is gone and bare metal showing i have to fix it.

I don't want to have to worry about dings and scratches. I would like to see some more pics of your truck. Do you have some posted in another thread somewhere? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Removed the patina from my 65
I like patina when I see it but I'm not lucky enough to have a car that is original enough to have it.
I have learned something though... ...rusty cars are as offensive to certain people as tattoo sleeves and piercings! I guess I didn't realize it was a statement? My mother in law, aunt, mom, cringe at my Nova SS convertible because the back half is original white paint and the front clip and doors are original red paint from another car. They like my rusty 63 longstep better because the previous owner painted it in his yard(I'm guessing). As long as it's all one color(and not primer, I primered the Nova, didn't help)everyone is happy! Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |
