Re: 1956 Chevy Stepside LSx
Appreciate the compliments. Sadly, I don't have any major updates from the last time I posted. We just finished moving houses, so my workspace has been reduced to a two car garage being shared by a Factory Five Cobra. Needless to say, it's a little tight, but still manageable.
Last week we went out to the garage to get things moving again. I have my steering column mocked up, waiting to get in touch with a friend up the road to weld in the new plate. Before I bought the truck, somebody had hacked a hole in the firewall to slide the old column into place. I picked up a column mount through summit that included a steel plate, so that should fix the problem. I've started shopping out air conditioning units for the truck, as I know I'll want it down the road. Any suggestions for a system that is compatible with the 5.3L? I know I'll have a ton of questions when I start getting into the wiring and meshing of all the standalone units (cruise control, engine wiring harness/PCM, fuse panel, dakota gauges, etc.). Iceburgh, I have a few questions for you actually. Where did you install your computer at? I've been toying with different spots to mount it, and thought about mounting in the cab to keep it off the firewall. I know I'll have more for you in the future, I need all the contacts I can get, given this is our first LS build. Thanks for the comments, I need the motivation! |
