Re: introducing myself

I don't have any wood work planned for the truck right now. I do have plans for a tool box to replace my plastic craftsman box that travels with me when pulling my trailer... I'm tired of having sockets rolling around at every corner and stop...

I also have a few ideas for unique add ons for the truck that I don't think anyone has done before, more or less little accessories that a non gear head brings.

I briefly thought about a wood bed, but this is still going to be a wood hauler and furniture delivery truck so I cant justify subjecting a beautiful wood bed to the abuse the bed will most likely see. but if i find a good wood floor bed down the road, who knows.

I am planning on turning some rosewood knobs for the shift lever, turn signal, and window knobs. I may see how hard it would be to turn some knobs for the radio and heater.

Always interested to hear ideas for other parts that I could make from wood... I plan to color match the interior to the exterior and hopefully do white dash pad, bench and sun visors... not sure about the floor yet, torn between black rubber/vinyl, or matching carpet... definitely some upgrades for a c10

I'm not sure about a bottle opener on the truck... just seems like it would not help if I get pulled over... I've never had a ticket, and don't plan to start now... I'll stick to having a bottle opener handy in the shop for when a the sharp and spinning is done and all that's left is sweeping up... I have a fairly graphic pic of what a powermatic 8" jointer can do to your finger at 8:30 in the AM. leave it to say I took a fat 1/16" off the tip of my left index finger. I got real lucky.

I think the beauty of these trucks is that acceptance of the mods seems to be "inclusive" rather than "exclusive". In short, it's your truck. If you don't go stock, make it the way you want it.
Then, generally, everyone gets to enjoy your take on the styling, and sees your individuality as a nice addiition to the truck. To YOUR truck.

I say, that because I think that when you work in wood, and there's a tradition of wood floors on these rigs, I'd go for wood. I don't work in wood, but I found a way to reflect the wood heritage
of the bed on the cheap. And, hopefully, it doesn't *look* too cheap.

MY take on wood elsewhere is the same as the color white in the interior....Too much is too much. I tend to like the stock wood trim that the factory used inside. But "more" (for me) does not equate with "better".
A couple of tasty rosewood knobs or handles might be pretty nice.

Again, that's just me.

Whatever you do will, I'm sure, be tasty.
