Shelby drop improves the overall handling of the car. During cornering, the wheels want to kick out (too much) and if you have anything larger than the skinny ass tires that came on the car originally they will rub. Mine do, and they're only slightly larger than stock. I will add though, that the 67/68s DO have MORE clearance than the 65-66 do. The shelby drop is "free". You can print off a temeplate online on use it, however for $12-15 you can get a metal plate that locates the holes better. You may be lowering the mounting holes for the suspension 1" but the overall suspension drop is approximately 1/4".

You do need to get the front end realigned using the "shelby specs." They're on the net. Just print them off and give them to the alignment guy.

They all seem to leak there. That's another leak I have to fix on mine as well.

Yeah rear is definetly leaking.... Rear does still have the tag on it though

So appears to be an8" with 2.80 gears

I think sometime we get caught up in the hype of what everyone else is doing! It amazes me how much we can spend on our toys, realizing that one day when we go to sell it, we will only get a fraction back! Coupes are nice, but not the high dollar classic no matter how much you put into it, and we all know these old cars suck the money up! I love my coupe mainly cause im bonded to it as it was my first project, but would like a fastback! Preferably a 68 or 69. Most importantly, have fun!

Does your door tag match the info you have about the car (door could have been swapped out at some point.)

The vin stamp on the driver fender matches the door but the tag is on the door has the info.

I liked a lot of the original colors for mustangs but it seems (sarcasm) 90% of them have been repainted red. I love my wimbledon white ( my cars original color) I have yet to see another 65/66 in my area that color. I've seen one 67 and that's it.

Nice!!!! Glad your getting some info on the car, your car was built in my home state, I was originally born in Louisiana but parents moved here when I was 3. sorry got side tracked

Whoever had the car before you aside from the minor thing that need to be tweaked and touched up, they put some major work into it. Nice score man!!!

That is a good looking mustang!! Amazing, but in the mid/late 60's, there were some awesome cars! However, at that time I was only 14/15 y/o, didn't realize just how cool they were until 30 years later when I started to look back!

I agree, I always have loved classic cars since I was little but now since I'm in my mid 20's, your just like these cars were cooler than what I thought! haha

Haha, Im only 30 so its a little different but ive been in love with these cars since i was a kid. Ive been trying to buy one for the past 8 years but always had things get in the way. Finally got the chance and wasnt about to let anything stop me...Even ACL surgery lol

Correction..It was actually built in the DearBorn Mi plant...It was just ordered from Louisiana im assuming by a dealer for their lot etc

Well i decided since POR-15 was on the way and i didnt have Physical Therapy today I would get out and do some work. I wire wheel the whole trunk, found a few small holes and patched them up. I think cleaned and put a good coat of POR-15 on. I used a lil over half a quart on the first coat and will use the rest of it to finish the trunk tomorrow

Wire wheeled the passenger side floor panel and it has a lot of small holes in it. Its still pretty solid but i may just cut out and patch the passenger side floor panel. Still need to wire wheel the driver side.

Lol no i cant..According the the Physicla Therapist im way ahead of where most people are at this stage... I already can almost fully straighten my leg, bend it at a 90 degree angle and that apparently takes a while for most. I also do all their leg lifts, quad flexing, calf stretches, leg bends and such with ease.... They said im an over achiever...Tomorrow is actually a week from surgery lol

haha, and thats awesome man!! that's crazy I remember when I had my surgery to get cartilage repaired after dislocated my kneecap twice, 2 days after my surgery I was having to do leg exercises so I didn't build up scar tissue, of course my leg was wrapped in a huge bandage so it wasn't exactly easy but I made it through, what kind of upsets me still to this day though is they never put me through PT after my surgery which is why I think my knee is still weak. oh well not about me, glad your doing good man and thats crazy in 1 week your doing all of that keep it up man!

eh....not too bad, I'm torn between the por-15 and this new product called rust bullet they have an ad here on the forum come across every now and then but I know people always give great reviews about the por-15

Pull the fuel tank and clean up/ paint the lip there... they tend to rust a good bit there. Be careful welding in the trunk... the fuel tank is the trunk floor.
