This is a fantastic truck! Really love the paintjob you did on it & I'll be using some of the tips I read in your paint thread.

Looks really good Jonathan. I bought that same breather and covers for my motor. Can't wait to see it all back together.. I hope to catch up to you soon and have mine back on the road.

Re: 1970 swb c-10
Man, looks terrific! Hope the rest goes well! Use foam pads, and dont sand your edges, and tape the edges off when you polish until the final glaze, and you'll be fine. Great work so far!

Bed is finished! It feels GREAT to be done with the painting. Now comes the cut and buff, intalling AAW wiring harness, Assembly, etc.

Gold/White is a terrific combo. Surprised you don't see them too often. What did you decide to do on the crimp tool from AAW?

Re: 1970 swb c-10
Found this on my front porch late tonight.(We dont ever use the front door) I bought it off ebay and had kinda forgotten about it. I dont know when UPS left it, but the box was soaked. Luckily the person that shipped it had wrapped it in plastic. I just have to change the bezel to the 69-72 one. EDIT: wow, my phone takes terrible pictures. I promise it looks like new. You just wouldnt know it from this pic.

Re: 1970 swb c-10
Looks good!! You better start color sanding and buffing soon as possible. Using 2021 if you wait to long you will wish you never started to sand on it..

Re: 1970 swb c-10
Really. What problems will I have? Its been about 6 weeks since sprayed the cab. How long is too long? If you dont mind me asking, whats your recomendation on the steps and materials for cut and buffing. I've heard and read alot of different methods and am a little bit lost. Im going tomorrow to but supplies. I was just going to pick the brain of the guy who owns the store as he has been very helpful so far. But I would like your input. All I have as of right now is a new buffer. I painted an old 80's Dodge hood when I was painting so I would have something to practice on. This step makes me more nervous than when I started painting.

Re: 1970 swb c-10
The paint combo looks fantastic. The buff jobs that always turn out horrible are the ones that are afraid of them. I was terrified with my first one from all the horror stories and once I got into it I immediately became comfortable. Just practice a little if possible, watch your edges and let the buffer do the work for you. Take your time.

UPDATE: I'm into the cut and buff now and it is going slowly. I'm really starting to get the hang of it so hopefully I can pick up the pace a little. Havent got to spend much time on it lately. I've been spending some time with the family. I REALLY want to finish polishing so I can put the body together and see what it looks like as one piece again. After this week I should have more time to work on it, so it wont be long...

Re: 1970 swb c-10
After two long weeks of late night sanding and buffing, I have finally finished. I cant believe how much difference it makes, well worth the effort. Anyone doing their first paint job and on the fence about wether or not to polish, like I was, DO IT. I used a method that I stole from a board member. 1000/1500/2000 then 3M foam pads with Meguires compounds. It worked very well.
Should have most of the body put together by the end of the weekend. I'll post some pics then. I cant wait to start putting on the trim and other things so I can get an idea of what this thing is really going to look like.
