A guy here close has one in the same shape.He keeps some unusual stuff also.

He has a 71-72 chevy now that I looked at yesterday.I didnt look close after I noticed that it is advertised as 72 then I look inside and the mirrow is mounted above the windshield on the metal. But it has 72 doors. On the blue sticker it has 09-71 as build date.I didnt notice the metal plate tho. The SPID has been replaced with another one also. But he wants $5995.I dont think the truck is worth that because of discrepticies like that.

MY '67 Sub and '68 C/10 Stepside both have the mirror mount like in post #1. My '71 Jimmy has a rearview mirror mount that flexes forward or rear and changes the angle of the mirror. Could be a Blazer-- K/5 -- Jimmy thing, so you can frame your reflection thru the back window, I don't know. It has a black rubber cover over some adjusting screws. I thought that was a '71 -only thing. When I bought my '67 Suburban, the PO had a generic glued-on-the-windshield mirror, but it vibrated so bad, on the freeway it shook so much you couldn't see. I had salvaged a chrome mirror mount out of my Dad's old '64 Olds stationwagon when that gave up the ghost and kept it in a parts box for 20 years. When the glue-on mirror fell off, I mounted the chrome one in the existing holes and it was a perfect fit and match. The one in the '68 pickup was either Fawn or Matt Black. I know I repainted it flat black for non-glare.

Ok guys, well I've sanded under the paint and found it to be the blue under it. Didn't expect that. Ok, now what? Tim what should I look for and get for you to check out?

This is out of context about the paint but I will get back to that.

First. When say it is the original cab are you sure?

Second. Are you sure your truck is a 72?

Third. Have you decoded the truck numbers?

Fourth. The doors, do either of the doors have the screw dimple at the vent frame? Is it left right or both?

Fifth. Did you look up the numbers as I outlined in post #22 on page 1?

Sixth. Where did you sand and find blue paint?

Seventh. Please provide pictures of the truck, the data plate, the driver's door sticker and the SPID.

This seems to be a never ending debate on this forum. My 1971 GMC has what appears to be 1972 doors and cab but they are original to the truck, my father bought this truck new. I had a 1991 Camaro which I purchased new in May 1990 ,it was titled as a 1991 but yet under the hood the emissions sticker clearly stated that it conformed to all requirements for the 1990 model year. A friend bought his Camaro later in the year (August )and it had a different emissions sticker! Whether it is GM, Chrysler,or Ford I believe that whatever they have is what will run down the line on a given day.
